Buy a bottle of PH up. I just bought one for $6 CDN at my local grow shop.

Test your water too. A cheap water PH test kit is like $5. With soil you want a bit of a higher PH, around 6-6.3 because nutes you add and any nutes in the soil will lower the PH.

So do I put this in tap or bottled water... And do I put the tester in the water to get a reading or in soil after watering. And thanks for the info before

you want to read the water that drains out of the bottom for your ph, if its crazy low and your doing soil you could add dolomite lime, that stuff is a ph buffer that will keep it closer to 7, what i always do is ph the water that im using down to what i want it to be then just pour it on and it will balance out,

your local PetCo. should sale API pH UP & pH Down both are $5 each. API Also makes a liquid pH tester that reads beteween 6.0-7.4 pH. Its good if your feeding with relatively clear solution or plain water but if you use a dark color fert you test will be inaccurate. that $15~ for a complete pH Balencing solution.

P.S.- Those soil multimeters that tll moisture, light, pH ,Nitrogen and what not are usually pretty inaccurate especially when it come to ph. They tend to read a constant 6-7 when in reality pH is about 5-3 or 8-10, test it using high a high acid and a high alkaline solution to calibrate it.

You have to be careful, you dont want to add to much, and it breaks down over time.

The liquid PH up/down can be added to any water. Tap, bottled, even after you mix your nute solution you can adjust the PH.

Get a full range PH test kit for Fresh & Salt water. I usually get NUTRAFIN wide range test kits (4.5-9.0) for $7 at the pet store, its good for 100 tests.

The first thing you will want to test is the water you normally use to feed.

If you use tap water test the tap water, if you use bottled test that. You want to get a baseline to see if your PH is too high or too low.

If you feed with nutes in your water then you want to test your nutrient solution next, see what the PH is after you mix with all your normal nutes.

If you feed with nutes, adjust the PH After you mix your nutes. Its trial and error, so use a bit at first to see how much PH adjuster you will need.

Never use PH up and Down at the same time. If you use too much of one just add more water.

And last thing you will need to test is the runoff. After your soil dries out, because you dont want to overwater  you will want to do a big feeding. Feed your plants over a bucket or something and give them enough water till you get some runoff. Then PH test the runoff to see how much your soil is affecting the PH.

PH (potential hydrogen) is basically the availability of Nutrients to your plants, too high or too low of a PH and the plants will "lock out" a lot of the essential nutrients and trace elements needed for strong, healthy growth.

Keeping PH in check just means less nute problems, and better growth rates.:leaf:
