this is what i do at the end.

when i see the trichomes are mostly cloudy with some amber, i give them 48 hrs of darkness. at the beginning of that time, i dump the res and fill up with RO or distilled. don't even bother pH'ing it. they are gonna die soon. every 12 hours, i dump res and fill up with RO. so 4 times total.
don't turn the lights on and cut them after 48hrs.

dry them slowly and then cure them properly and you'll have some fine smoke.
Why are you using so much water to flush at the end every 12 hours? What is the technical reason behind a multi-flush method like that? For many RDWCs that method may not be economical. Just trying to figure if you are trying to force the plant to drink more fresh water? or more for washing excess salts/nutrients from the system and root ball? both maybe?

That's what I've been doing. It's starting to mellow out though...I checked last night at 1:30am, pH @ 5.9...checked again this morning at 8am, pH at 6.0 & 6.1...just gotta keep an eye on it I guess.
What I would suggest is PH below your target of 5.8, even down to 5.0 and don’t adjust back down till it passes 6.5. Plants absorb different nutrients at different levels, mild PH fluctuations are good. OH and stop checking it so much...
