pH confustion

First, thanks for all the great info on these forums from all the vets, hopefully you all can help me once again.

I have a new grow going that I hope is a little less half ass than the last few.

My tap water has a ppm of less <50, but a pH of 9.5. Does this sound right? I have 2 pH meters that I've calibrated and they say the same thing.

I have a mother plant in soil. The runoff pH is 6.2, which I thought was good, but further research has confused the heck out of me. She seems to be doing well though, giving me more cuttings than I need.

I have the cuttings in DWC, which I'm keeping the pH around 5.8 which again I thought was good, but further research has made me question.

I'm using Technaflora recipe for success for soil and soiless, following the recipe and feeding schedule for each and using pH down after nutes are added.

Also, waiting on my water chiller to arrive, so I'm using frozen water bottles to keep my nute solution between 65 and 70 degrees (pain in the ass).

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing the right things, or tell me where I can improve?

Make sure to take in to account the solutions temperature when measuring pH.
You'll get a Diff. pH Reading from cold water compared to warm water of the same solution.

Good Luck on your Grow.

For soil, I don't bother measuring runoff. If I have a good soil mix and I know that everything I feed her is at 6.5, then all good. i have a cheap soil ph meter and it is always right at high 6 level.

I also don't ppm. I have a pur filter on my kitchen faucet, fill from, sit out a few days, and use.

My water is at about 7.5. and it isn't much different fresh out the tap vs filtered and aged. So 9.5 seems high and all water is different so what works for me may not for you. But maybe something of value.

Can't help on DWC. I clone into rapid rooters or straight into soil.

I see no problems with the ph values you mentioned for soil and hydro, you're right on.
