pesky white hairs...

just gonna ask a quick question here. I think my plants are fairly close to harvest (going into week 10 flowering on thursday, check out my grow thread for recent pics) but there are still alot of white hairs going on. all the lower buds are 90% orange hairs but the main cola highest buds are like 15% orange at most. during drying and curing will these white hairs turn orange? all the dankest buds ive smoked have been covered in orange hairs, and i want em!

this is purely for asthetics to be honest, im going to harvest by the trichs obviously, but ive never harvested before at all, and ive never smoked weed with white hairs on before either!

thanks for any answers from experienced harvesters!

after you kill the plant the hairs turn brown anyway bro, just wait until theyre nice and frosty then pick em

I suggest looking into how that strains pistals change. There are some strains such as Saratoga strains never change pistal color until after the harvest. But again as stated...way too many times check the tric's for an accurate time frame.

they do change when you chop it, remember, clear/milky is the speedy high, amber is your couch lock, i did a 50/50 harvest on one and preferred the speedy

They are talking about pistals, and you are talking about trichomes. Just so no one gets confused, I brought up trichomes over pistals just to say that the tric's are a better judge as to when our mj plants are ready.

Definitely go by trichromes and not the hairs. The hairs will turn orange, red, brown etc. after you cut them like someone else stated.

Gotcha, check the tric's on thed lower buds, if they are ripe then remove them, and the final stage of flowering all the plants energy will go to the main colas just as with lolipopping.

What do you look for when looking for the trichromes as your harvest guide?? The hairs I understand but don't get how you look at for whatever with trics.??

Look at the trichs under a 30x magnifying glass. They will look like mushrooms, a stem with a ball. The ball will either be clear, milky, or amber depending how mature the plant is.

"Exploded" amber gland heads (the head of the trichome) is when THC potency is declining, so you want to get the plant before too much of this occurs. Clear are still ripening, milky are ripe, and amber are mature. I harvest with about 25% clear heads, and 75% milky, this keeps it nice, and cerebral. Let them go amber, and you will be loving the heavy couch lock :)
