...What do you you do with your excess (if any)?
There's always a lot of discussion about people seeking to get bigger yields and grams-per-watt of a certain kind of light spectrum....not to mention all the "secret formulas" of fertilizers, etc. used to boost yields.
But, what is the practicality of most of these things if your personal use is, say, less than "about a pound" per year? I'm sure there are other smokers, like me, who don't have an "abusive" level of use. I'm not a Rasta. I just like to take a few small rips of high quality flower through a nice glass bubbler....smack my lips a few times as I blow out the smoke....
Doesn't it make more sense, for personal-use growers to get away from thinking like production growers? Why not grow 5 or 6 small plants to get a variety of flavors, without producing an excessive amount? In my experience, it's possible to store marijuana in airtight jars in the 'fridge for about a year before it starts to go bad. Of course, it's still effective. It's just not at it's peak flavor. And it doesn't make sense to store weed that doesn't taste as good as it could -IF you're in a state where you can legally grow it.
I have used my excess to make rosin, bubble hash, etc. -so as to be able to store it longer, but, even then, I end up with too much of that, as well.
I think that, when you become a grower, then you start to focus on the pursuit of getting good results that are gauged off of looking at pictures of gigantic plants with colas as long as your arm...etc. We want to try for that ideal....but I'm not sure it really should be the ideal if it ends up in waste. I've actually thrown out weed that was too old...something I never would have done back in the early days!
