CMH bulbs will run in switchable magnetic ballasts? I am considering buying a tent for more flower room and using a 600w HPS and 400w MH together.

CMH runs in HPS magnetic ballasts, and they just released one for MH ballasts. I'd ask the company about switchables, it sems like it should work but better to be sure.

I'm surprised I haven't thought to ask you this yet, but do you have an idea of what your average Gram Per Watt is? Sucks to hear about the light mover not being feasible, but the CMHs sound pretty promising and I'm interested in hearing what kinds of improvements you notice along the way. Im'a start calling you Bill Nye, 'cause you're my science guy.

Oh yeah, and speaking of the CMHs, you say you're doubling your growth rates in veg?! So what are you seeing now, like an inch per day? If I'm remembering right you were vegging with CFLs? What kind of wattage were you using before, and which CMH are you using now, the 250 or the 400 for veg?

The last time I actually did the math, I was still in the 4x4 flower room. I was averaging a qp every 2 weeks, with that coming from a 1x4' space, which means I'd have gotten a pound if I pulled all at once, for 450ish grams out of a 600 watter. That puts me at .75 grams per watt, not exactly stellar but not bad. Over the next month or so, I think i can blow that number out of the water. My system has been in a perpetual state of flux for the last month or so, but things are looking good for the near future. The older plants are a little stunted from all the changes over their lifetimes, but the younger generations are looking like little bud factories. As far as the CMH goes, yeah, I really am seeing close to an inch a day some days, it's ridiculous. I was running a 250 watt HPS before, I just switched bulbs. I veg little plants in shelves with CFLs, but I also have my 3x3 veg box for for the plants in buckets. You'd think I'd just put em all in the same room, but it's easier space-wise to have the box and the shelves seperate. But yeah, not only faster growth but lusher as well, the fan leaves are huge compared to before, the stems are thicker and juicier. Even the roots seem to grow faster.



That pic was about 10 days after transplanting 2 10" topped plants into the bucket. In that time, the 2 little plants got big enough to train around the rim and developed those massive leaves. I'm psyched. That's my first bucket of Mountain Bastard, my bagseed creation. Oh yeah, and while Bill Nye is the man, I'm gonna have to go with Mr. Wizard, cuz I'm old.

So I cycle plants every 8 days, if you're reading this you probably already know that. Today was a cycling day, and I took a couple pics to show the growth rate under the new CMH bulb. There are 2 plants in each pic, same strain, 8 days apart. The larger plants have been in buckets for 16 days, most of which was under the new bulb, and the smaller ones have been in buckets for 8 days, and got trained today. I figured this would be a good way to illustrate how quick these things are growing under this bulb without taking pictures of veg plants every day.

I figured I'd follow 2 buckets through veg and flower, so this journal gets a little more cohesive and weed-oriented. It worked out kinda nice too, in that this week I planted 2 strains I haven't run before. Northern Lights, a classic, and Purple Cadillac, a mystery clone. All I know is it's indica from NorCal. Anyway, I thought it'd be cool to follow something I hadn't run before as there'll be more suprise at the end. So here are the young'uns, before, during and afer transplant.

It's actually the first bunch of roses I got my wife. I'm helly alergic to roses, but Wifey really likes her sentimentals, so they live in the garage with the garden.

That's really cool. My mom does something similar in photo albums, keeps flowers with pics from the same period of time. It really does take you back, when you have something to engage your senses a little.

Oh yeah, sold my first batch of clones last night to another local medi-grower, who ended up being someone I knew from way back. Me and this dude had been hanging out back in the 90's. Really fresh experience, plus I freed up some much needed space. I was literally going through and tossing the weaker plants, was gonna let a friend pick over what I had and cull the rest when the phone rang. Gotta love this medical community, I remember when things were a lot more clandestine, now you flip plants to another patient and run into an old friend.

Yea i dream everynight of living in a legal state... one day i might just move.....
