Perpetual Grow Setup Questions (with pictures)

Hey friends - I'm looking for some advice to continue my first grow.

As soon as my state was legal for 5 plants, I ran and bought the biggest tent I could for the space I had (4x8 tent) #newbie. I have since learned it will be much easier for me to have 2 smaller tents (a 4x3 for veg and 4x4 for flower) - especially for the purpose of trying to maintain a perpetual harvest. So, I am packing up my 4x8 for use when the law becomes more sympathetic to a larger grow. Until then - I bought these 2 smaller tents and I am looking for some advice on proper setup.

My state limits me to a maximum of 5 plants larger than 5". So... I am looking to harvest largest yield with the limits given. I purchased these 4x4 and 4x3 tents for perpetual grow.

I currently have a VIVOSUN 6 Inch 440 CFM Inline Fan with 6" carbon filter. I am hoping to use this fan for both tents. I calculated CFM between the 2 tents to be 178CFM, not counting for loss from filter, static pressure from venting etc. Regardless... I think this cheap 440 CFM variable fan should be powerful enough to exhaust both tents. My idea is to run exhast duct out of both tents into a wye, and then wye out of the house. Also thinking I can get away with just 1 carbon filter for for the flower tent, and no filter for veg tent.

Thought process is: clone tray, 1 mother plant and 2 veg plants in 4x3 and 2 plants in 4x4 flower tent (see my rough drawing below too). While always caring for the mother, perpetually cycling 2 plants through the veg tent and 2 plants through the flowering tent at any given time.

Setup I am building looks something like this:

Do you think my fan will be powerful enough to create negative pressure for both tents?
Think I need a plenum? Do any of the veterans have any thoughts on this?

Thanks all! Happy growing :)

I want to run a set up just like this!!! I have a 2x2 box and a 4x4 tent. I’ll be paying close attention to this!
I have seen in other threads in my research that it might not work the best, but I never found a real reason WHY.
I might just try for myself and let you know!

everything looks good but 6 in fan might not be enough and also I would put a carbon filter on a veg tent too, I think they have a smell, some might not do it up to you

Hey cook, thanks for your reply.

6" inline-fan is is rated to exchange 440 cubic feet of air per minute.

4x4x6 tent = 106 cfm
4x3x6 tent= 72 cfm

I know I also have to account for loss from carbon filter, static friction, and whatever else.... but dont you think 440 is enough?

it might be but even if it's enough, you have to use it with full speed and its gonna be loud and carbon filter might not work well. I personally use 6 in fan for 4x4 tent with half speed and with 6"24" carbon filter to avoid any kind of smell.

I have three setups very similar to this in my basement. I will snap pictures tonight of one of my environment and explain how and why I do things the way I do.

That's fair, great feedback. Food for thought for sure. Thanks friend :)

if you put the filter only in flowering tent, be sure to adjust external pressure on the veg tent cuz air will come from the easiest way, veg tent will be the sure path for most of the air. Depending on filter pressure losses, you should add extra feet of duct on veg tent and make obstacle to balance.. or add a balancing damper on veg secondary duct.
