 Can someone tell me why my friend is using Planter pots that are more like a laundry basket just smaller holes ?
Would it not be better to use a regular planter Pot ?

Maybe your friend is going hydro?? maybe an aero, dwc, nft or flood and drain or ebb and flow? I give up, why is he gonna use net pots? Is this a trick question, you really know the answer and just want to see if we are paying attention.? VV

The roots are better when they get air. By not having any holes in your container the roots will suffer and you risk for disease increases. Those pots dont have to be strictly for hydro, but that what there mainly used for. You can line them with nylon mesh screens to keep the dirt in. It allows you to really flush the plant with water and air too when it dries.

No not Hydro, he just says the plants need to get air. I think its too much air and the plants need to retain more water, etc. I want to start a plant in a regular bucket with just bottom holes to see which way is better.
