K so i live pretty far out where noone goes except my family. we moved here bout 4 years ago and ive discovered an old pot growin site. its perfect to! they were really far away from the house and trails. there were 14 plants, all in grow bags. its camoflagoued like a freakin army engineer, noooo helicopters can see it yet it gets excellent sun. im hopin to get plants 6 ft tall but no bigger than that. the grow bags are about 2 and a half or 3 feet wide and only about 8 inches deep. theyre filled with really good soil cuz theres a shit load of bags of peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, and soil. its protected really well from any animals. theres a year round spring only about 150 ft away so water wont be a problem. the spring is just a little creek now but im thinkin ill dig a nice big hole so it has a body of water bout 5 ft wide. if i want 6 ft plants should i use the grow bags or put the plants in holes.?

O no theres no plants and i discovered it last summer. everything had a good inch of leaves and debris, its for sure abandoned. i just went out there again and god damn they musta busted theyre ass on it. what looked like 3 normal sized grow bags turned out to be monsters id say what looked like 25 gallon bags. ive taken all the bags outta the ground now. i think ill have to get new bags and soil. i would like to use the same soil but its filled with roots so... some more good news, i found 3 pairs of pruners at the bottom of the holes lol. do ya think if i put chicken wire at the bottom of the holes and filled them with good soil itd work better than bags? the holes are already dug so that works outta the way.

be aware some growers switch around year to year, I do it myself on occasion. hope they donn't decide to come back. maybe give yourself a late start to plant, wait it out a couple weeks and see if they come back to be safe

The huge ones or how big do i need for aprox 6 ft plants. im not sure how to but i want t omake the plant have many branches, this is called pinching off right? for soil i have horse manure and clean field dirt in unlimited amounts, i can get vermiculite, perlite, and that kinda stuff from the garden shop. whats peat moss? the old grower sure did us a lot of it. any suggestions on soil?

20 gallon? i dont remember the exact volume but that sounds good to me. you can top it to make it nice and bushy. topping slows growth and makes the plant shorter but it will make it very bushy. soil should be organic. but i'm from cali. everything is organic.

peat moss is spongey absorbent growing medium. made from the moss that grows on peat. peat is just decomposing plant matter found in bogs. never used it. skip the field dirt and horse manure. vermiculite, perlite, and kellogs garden soil. i don't think perlite is technically "organic" but its just for aeration and moister retention and is completely sterile.

you can make it without the horse manure. just vermiculite and perlite. i'm a city boy, so i see manure as something to avoid. i imagine it has very unstable ph but some dolomitic lime will cure that.

ive never tested it for ph but it works wonders for vegetables. for veges i make a mix of horse manure field dirt and vermiculite. but that for veggies and im talkin pot and i want healthy strong plants so i know. so just dirt vermiculite and perlite. i should hve some fertilizer shouldnt i?

the lack of funds make the manure a great alternative. if you can scrape together a few dollars you can get some dolomitic lime. is a PH balancer. just to be safe.

o shit i can afford that no prob. will one bag or whatever it comes in be enough? theres 14 plants each is gonna have 20 gallon grow bag. i think im gonna need more eh? just gotta go pick up the grow bags, lime, and vermiculite. tomorow and im gonna start mixxing it up. think i should use peat moss? youre sure i dont need any fertilizers. theres some pretty inexpensive organic fertilizers atthe garden shop. maybe i should get a few bags?

the probs with straight manure, is that if it isnt already breaking down, you get hot spots in soil, as it decomposes. and too much N in it, it is from a vegi eating only animal, it eats grean matter, therefor, as i was told, it is mostly (N)nitrogen. thats great for the 1st 3 months, but once flowers show, you dont want much N in the soil.
