Hey there, I have a 400watt MH and just wondering what space would be best for a good indoor grow.. Iv researched allot but some advice from those who are actually growing would be great :)

Also the ideal no of plants that can be grown.. Got 8 on the way and gonna have to start making some tough decisions soon

Should probably just go out and get another light but for now some advice based on one 400mh would be great!!!

Thanks

a 3'x3' space is ideal for a 400w. Though with proper venilation ive had one in a 2'x2' space. I really wouldnt go much larger than a 3.5x3.5 for that wattage..

A 3-foot by 3-foot tent would be perfect for a 400-watt metal halide. You could buy one prefabricated, or make your own. If your tent has a good ventilation system, you probably won't even need to use a sealed hood.

As far as the number of plants, you could grow one big plant, 4 medium sized plants, or 8 small ones (veg to a foot or 18-inches...or until you have a nice canopy). Experiment to see what works best for you. I don't recommend doing just one plant for a first grow, because it's too easy to lose the entire crop if things go awry.

I can spend more so budget is not too worrying at the moment... and the space is around 2m x 2m so was looking to close a section off with mylar so that my light can be of more use...

That's plenty of space. Here's a pic of my last grow under a 400w hps with 6 plants. Next time I'm only gonna go with 4 plants.

Shot bro!! Wanted to check a grow under a 400w for ages! Yea i have 8 really tiny ones at the moment but going to either get another light or hopefully end up with 4 or so that can be grown just under that 400w. haha cool to see the "car screen" in the background i also have one of those in the grow room.

I would rock the 3x3 as well, try to get a reflector that puts out even coverage.

Definently scrog that. It's the perfect size for a scrog. In that space, all things being right, you could look at 400g off one or two plants.

If you are still new to it all just do a practice run with 4 plants grown to half a foot, cut the tops off, then grow em enough two weeks or so and flower. You will get things done fast, learn a lot, and not be overwhelmed with work while learning.

I want to make a new cabinet about the same dimensions for my 400 CMH. But i just haven't gotten around to it hah.

4x4x5 is pretty good lots of space, good for ventilation and also factor in light height. a 3x3 turns into a 3x2.6 real quick

yea shot, looking into the scrog technique for sure. I have grown outdoor before but that seemed allot easier than indoor.. water and a few nutrients and they grew. This time there is more to look out for but indoor has huge perks :) Doing lots of research and just trying to get them from seedling into proper veg stage at the moment. They were looking a little yellow (well are) due to the ph being a little off but sorted that out hopefully. shot for the reply
