Sullivan noted that Bucyrus, which was purchased by Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar Inc. in a deal that closed last year, set up a plant in Kilgore, Texas, in 2009 because it struggled to find welders to fill open jobs. The plant now employs about 200 welders.
“Those 200 jobs should be here in Milwaukee. We spent $250 million renovating and expanding a (Bucyrus) plant in South Milwaukee that we couldn’t fill because we couldn’t find the work force.”
Sullivan left Bucyrus, which had its headquarters in Oak Creek and a large factory in South Milwaukee, in July 2011 after Caterpillar purchased the mining equipment manufacturer.
At the time of his departure, Bucyrus had added about 1,000 employees over a six year span but struggled mightily at times to find qualified candidates, especially welders.

So you just proved that either
A: You lied your ass off, Bucyrus moved their facilities, not Caterpillar.
B: You can't comprehend what you read since Bucyrus moved the operations and not Caterpillar.
C: You are unaware that Bucyrus and Caterpiller were different companies. Not that the different names shouldn't have clued you into this fact.

Bucyrus moved the operations to Texas, then Cat bought them. Cat never once said they needed to move because they couldn't find workers.

Those are the ones they advertise
You want a job at Catepillar Or Bucyrus
You fill out an application first
Then they email you the job openings
OHHHH super secret jobs that only YOU know about eh?

I wonder how many minutes it takes to become a proficient welder?

Know why Cat has trouble filling jobs? Because they don't let anyone know they have jobs to be filled. LOL common sense isn't your strong suit is it?

If I e-mail them how many job opening will they have? Hundreds? Thousands? Enough to make it worthwhile and PROFITABLE to move the entire manufacturing side somewhere else? Oh wait, we already proved that steaming pile of shit statement was either confusion or willful and blatant untruth.

[h=2]Skilled labor shortage a problem for manufacturers[/h]By Molly Newman

Former Bucyrus International Inc. chief executive officer Tim Sullivan, a special consultant for business and workforce development for the State of Wisconsin, gave a keynote speech following Walker's comments. Wisconsin has not made enough progress in fixing the talent pipeline for manufacturing, despite early warning signs, Sullivan said. He cited statistics from a 2003 Report on the State of Manufacturing in Wisconsin from the WMEP that showed manufacturers were talking about the current skills gap 10 years ago, but the problem has not been solved.

"I know that reform has to happen, certainly in the key areas that affect us as manufacturers," Sullivan said. "We've made no or little progress to really addressing a lot of the issues in our state."

Wisconsin should build on its driver industries and change legislative policies to address the labor shortages in the manufacturing sector, Sullivan said.

Worker migration has been an issue for the state for more than 10 years, with 12,000 workers lost from 2001 to 2010, he said.
When he was CEO of Bucyrus, Sullivan said he struggled to find local welders to fill the company's open jobs and the company, which is now a part of Caterpillar, instead built a facility in Texas.

"We spent $250 million renovating and expanding a plant in South Milwaukee that we can't fill," he said.

The state can fix workforce development and training, but "unless we get the pipeline fixed all the way back to pre-school, we're not going to win the battle" for more skilled workers, Sullivan said.

we are looking to hire as many Linux people as possible in Michigan, as much as 100, can't find anyone that works with Linux in 2 years we managed to hire only 3 guys , we are overworked(fast growing rather, can't do enough work, we could be making a lot more money).

55k-200k incomes, no experience, or college required just have to be a Linux guru. Just need to have a passion for Linux. This is what you need to have is a passion, people don't have it these days, they think you go to college and be barely motivated enough to pass then at the end they hand you a job. I feel like college is not only a scam, its a complete waste of anyone’s time as far as learning to do an actual job, now they have drilled into the head of several generations "you have to go to college", fucking total bullshit. If you don't have a passion then don't waste your time going to college, get a passion first, live and breathe something, experience is infinitely more valuable.
