Hey, ok time to step it up my gnome loveing friends.

You may be aware of the term MAOI and often see it applied in conjuction with rue. This is not strictly speaking correct as rue is a RIMA... the main things that sets them apart is that you don't need to take dietary precautions to deal with rue, and it is significantly safer on the system.

What I will be demonstrateing is how to extract your own harmaloids from the rue, and maybe, depending on the yield (wich varies from batch to batch), do a further seperation of the alkaloids.

It is not a fast process by any means, as it involves 3 12 hour soaks at the minimum, and then some more time... As per usual I will document and update the process as I go along.

The method I will be demonstrating is called the Manske tek.

Before I continue, you may wonder what you would do with this stuff... well basicaly it potentiates tryptamines like magic mushrooms and DMT, by blocking the parts of your blood that would normaly de-aminate (cool word), those compounds before all of them can break the blood brain barrier.

The harmalas are active in their own right so you may use it alone... there is alot of speculation that it is the source of the flying carpet and the design of mosque ceilings may also become very apparent to you.

So, for starters lets go over what you would need.

50g (2 ounces) of peganum harmala seed
300ml of distiled white vinegar (I'm demostrating with cheap sugar cane vinegar so you can see its not critical, but I like to post best practice.
200ml of distilled water (I'm useing tap water, see above)

You will also need non-iodized salt, I'm using ordinary table salt.

first up, what the little seeds look like, (keep a few to try and plant in early spring).


You start by grinding the seeds, but don;t try to grind it too fine. I'm useing handpower cause i'm cheap.




Ok next take a jar and pour in 200ml of water and 300ml of vinegar.
Take another jar and pour your 50g of ground seeds in there and then pour in 150ml of the acidic mix you just made in the first jar with the seeds.
This gets set aside for 12 hours, at which time the seeds are strained and the liquid collected.



The seeds go back into the jar and you pour half of the remaining acidic mix in, and let stand for 12 hours again, strain and repeat with the last vinegar water for another 12 hours.

You would collect all the strained liquid together. Also keep the seed mush until after the extraction to compare weight incase you need to go back for missed alkaloids.

Ok then, so it will be a day or 2 before we continue...

Update time.

The second soak has about 2 hours to go still, but I am working on cleaning up sedimentation from the first soak.
I suggest first filtering the rue through a dark sock or old t-shirt as it stains a bit, use alot of force and try and squeeze as much of the liquid out before putting the ground rue back into the next acid soak made from half of your remaining vinegar and water mix.
Next I am filtering the sediment using a small kitchen funnel and a tiny plug of polyfill, it will probably clog up once in a while, so keep something handy to poke it with, as long as a drop comes out every few minutes, all is cool, I mean one has 12 hours between batches....

Thanks T, hope you try it soon. As you can see you need no labware... And the wole story just smells a bit like fresh aniseed rusks.



After a few gentle cycles through the coffee filter the coffee on the left is turning into a golden elixer.



Work patiently and gently.

Once you have your filtered rue tea, put it in a small stainlesssteel pot and increase the temp to just under a boil.
Add as much salt as you can disolve into the mix, then let it cool and then put it into the fridge... the harmalas should percipitate overnight


This then get filtered to leave you with


Now proceed to try and add a bit more salt and see if more comes out...
 
Ok i have a question, This monday im going to make MHRB tea with Peganum Harmala. The Tek i read told me to soke 3g of rue in lemon juice as you cook the tea with just water and white viniger. Then when the tea is done eat the rue that you soked wait 20min then drink the tea. What are you thoughts on this Tek will it work? Do i need to extract the RIMA??

Rue can be pretty hard on the system (vomiting wise) because of all the tanins.
This can be reduced by adding eggwhite, heating till it congeals and seperating it out.
Personaly I love the extracted harmaloids.
 
Thanks ANC i love your Tek keep up the good work bud! I was also wondering if Cannabis would help combat the nausea?? SWIM has lots of hash oil and could mix it in with the tea or just smoke some Cannabis. Your thoughs??

thanks anc. that tek sounds simple enough for even me to pull off. i dont really have any experience with the tryptamines so would this be a good 1 for me to start out on?

well it is not a tryptamine, it can be used to potentiate tryptamines or make them oraly active.
A good dose is about 2.5 to 3mg /kg of body weight, although it is highly variable from person to person.
