Pawn stars, seen it? Like it or no?

I like Pawn Stars but Ricks laugh REALLY irritates me. Not only is it irritating but he laughs at EVERYTHING including stuff that isn't even funny.

Love The Old Man and Chumlee. They make that show.

The other thing that makes me laugh is when people bring something in looking for $100. Without even asking how much they want they call in the expert and find out it is worth $10,000. So instead of $9900 profit they end up with < $5000.

The only thing I don't like about American Pickers is that they sometimes take advantage of old people. I saw one episode that had this old codger showing them around his barns and workshop letting them look at all the stuff he's accumulated over his life time. He clearly was too old to have his senses about him and understand what they were doing. They gave him something like $25 for something they knew was worth significantly more and snickered between themselves on the "steal" they just made. I had hoped they would go back and give the old guy a more fair price for some of his items but they didn't.

He also strikes me as someone who doesn't know he's gay yet.
I agree 100%. The skinny guy is a little scoundrel.

My gaydar says he is 100% gay.

Im with you guys on nat geo, that and history and lockup on msnbc are my favorite things to watch, adult swim is good too. I love the naked science show on nat geo, they are almost always awesome. I love that sort of shit. Gangland is a pretty good show too, i forgot that one. man vs. wild is discovery channel. I like rick from pawn stars, he seems like an alright guy to me. what drives me crazy is when the people dont even try to haggle really and just take the first offer e gives em. i mean come on, everyone knows the first offer is gonna be way low.

I love all the shows you mentioned, that is my type of T.V for sure! I can't believe some of the deals they score in there, I think that would be an awesome way to make a living, and fun too. I thought the old "treasure" chest was pretty cool, and the time the indian guy brought in his spirit totem, hilarious!!! _sheva chick

yeah man, I was hoping they would find something cool as hell in there like a treasure map or something. lol. I also liked the way that all the locksmiths and that the guy took it to couldnt figure it out and the one guy just comes in and opens it w/o any problems.

Ya know, when their experts tell Rick and the potential seller that this particular item could go for 10 to 15 grand at auction and yet the seller will choose to accept the 2 grand Rick is offering instead of trying to auction it off themselves, don't you figure that since they're in Las Vegas, they're taking that 2 grand because Guido will be coming around about dinner time to break their legs if they don't have that money to pay off gambling debts?

I like the one where the guy wants to sell sunken treasure for like 3/4 million & rick says like 1/4 million. WWII IN HD IS THE SHIT.

I like the ones where rick is all really skeptical on the items being real and the expert comes in and proves him wrong. one thing ive always thought of though-wouldnt it be easy as hell for thar *expert* to actually be pulling an inside job and give out deflated values. I'd be nervous if someone said "I've got a buddy who knows all about this stuff, let me call him." cause like i said b4 he could easily be underpricing items and rick slipping him a 50 or 100 or something after the guy leaves who sold it.

Yeah, it was that episode that made me realize that these guys are dealing in some serious cash. Do you suppose they keep that kind coin in the safe in the back office? Or would they give the guy a check? None of the pawn shops around can roll like that.

they say cash right now when the people ask, but w/the treasure i think it would be alot different. i doubt they would keep even close to that much money in the store, maybe like 10,000-50,000. they dont seem to get any items higher than that really so it would just be adding more risk to keep that much in the shop, and even when they do (i havent seen anything pawned for more than that hot air balloon that i can remember but i might be wrong, my memory sucks till someone says something and points it out.) they can always just run to the bank real quick while they are working out the paperwork and that stuff.

I read in the paper yesterday that they are starting a 400,000 shop expansion/remodeling. Forgot to say that b4. lol
