In the interest of brevity, I'll keep to the basics.
Bottom line, if you're a noob like me:
1. You're likely to make some mistakes, it's not the end of the world. Recover, and try not to repeat those mistakes.
2. If you don't have some patience, get some. Your chances of success are virtually nonexistent without being at least a semi-patient person.
I germinated a couple beans without issue, after the taproot grew an inch, I put thm into DWC. Water was (I thought) ph to 5.7. No calmag because my water report shows plenty of calcium. My res became infected with kong snot; pythium nation had invaded. I tried some bleach, nothing. So I added more. They drooped and yellowed overnight. I tried a fresh res, no joy. They continued to get worse. I shaved much of the roots, put them in a diy areocloner and they seemed to respond, but weren't thriving.
Fast forwad to today: I discovered my shitty ph meter and pitched it. I put together some hempy buckets, made hella sure they were dead at 5.9ph, and repotted them. I gave them nothing but ph 5.9 water for 3 days. They responded pretty quickly (I think anyway). Today they are up to 3ml GH floramicro and 6ml GH florabloom. They are pretty happy and have been topped and are back to reaching every leaf reaching up.
If I have learned anything (and I have learned ALOT), it's that the plants are forgiving and I have to be patient with them. They do what they're gonna do. My role in this this endeavor is actually pretty small. I just give them what they ask for and stay out of their way. Things are never how I imagine them, lol.
