thats weird...im using all MG for my soil..its a mix of MG organic,MG perlite,MG peat moss....they seem to love it in there...ive only had a light nute burn at maybe 2 tips...but that was from me bumping the nutes up too much on a new solution...only thing i do is a small flush every 2-3 feedings...in a party cup your going to get more soil compaction...that seems to help hold salts in easier...so a good flush time to time really helps out...and since its only a party cup and not giant container...they need watered about every day or every 2 days...so its not going to miss the nutes that much after the flush till its next feeding.......but when i start my next set of grows...im gonna give jungle growth soil a try...been heaing a ton of good things about it and cost only a little more then MG and lowes carries it
I tend to over analyze my grows. The MG is actually working for veg growth. I have 8 plants in 1 gallon bags, 3 in party cups. I really do think that with MG you want to definately let the plants dry out between waterings moreso than other "premium" soils. The slow release fert pellets mixed in the soil look as though they are some sort of gelcap design. With that you can only assume that more frequent waterings will cause the gel to break down faster and increase the possibility of a burn. This is just the way my logic is working.

I think through veg I'm going to like it, but I'm concerned about when I transplant into there final 3 gallon containers prior to flower. I'm afraid adding another 2 gallons of slow release ferts is going to screw with them a little bit.

Pro-Mix BX :hump:

Then you can only blame nute burn on yourself.
I have been looking for a bale of pro-mix locally, dunno if Lowes carry's it anymore and my small town doesn't have a hydro shop, Winter sucks, I'm heading out to Lowes and Home depot tonight and see what they have laying around. I need some other things anyway. 30 gallon trash can for soil storage, and some 6" duct for the new inline thats on it's way.

I use MG seedling mix for the first 2 weeks under a dome and heated. The MG seedling mix is pretty easy on my seedlings. I only noticed the slight burn right after transplanting. I still think the MG is alright, just have to really keep an eye on your youngins. I'm really interested in the pro-mix. I'm sick of lugging in massive bags of MG into my apartment at midnight so the neighbors don't get suspicious, lol. I have a massive grow for an apartment, lol.

I grow for profit, so narrowing down a decent medium that doesn't cut into my bottom line to bad has proven to be difficult where I live. So far MG potting mix is what I will be using until I can find someplace local for pro-mix or something similar.

Someone mentioned something about Jungle Growth Soil, I was reading about it and would like to try it. Gonna see if there are a couple bags left at Lowes tonight.

Fox farm runs me $30-$50 just in shipping!!!!!!! I would rather dig up the yard than pay that kinda money for Fox Farm soils =)

Thats insane bro way too much $$$ for soil. I would rather go to a dog park and pick up droppings then pay that kind of money. LOL

I use Supersoil Potting Soil .14% .09% .02%(N-P-K) and Perlite. I dont remember if I got it at Lowes or Home Depot but I got it from one of those stores. It was cheap and I have yet to have any burning or problems with xplanting.

On my next grow I am going to use some Fox Farm Soil since I already use their Nutrients(Grow Big/Tiger/Big Bloom). From what a lot of people tell me is that Fox Farm soils are hot for seeds, tend to burn alot but once you get past seedling stage I hear nothing but good things about it. I dont have the (Open Sesame/Beastie Bloomz/Cha-Ching) but I am going to get them just got to wait for some money. I want to see what the full lineup can do. Does anyone know a site to get those 3 supplement ff nutes on line for a good price?

Peace all

So I just got back from Lowes, another $200 on spontaneous crap. (I just had to have a couple wireless thermometer/hydrometers for my veg tent and flower room, lol) Sit in my living room and monitor by girls during dark cycle just sounded nifty =)

ANyway, Lowes had an entire pallet of Jiffy Vegetable and Flower potting soil. It say all natural and doesn't say anything on the bags about pre-fertilization. One of the bags was busted open so I got to run my hand through some of it. It's not as airy as MG potting mix and doesn't have the big bark chunks (which I hate). Looks like it would be good soil with some perlite added. Best thing about it was the price tag. They had 2.5cu bags for only $2.99!!!!!!! Price was marked down for winter I think.

I have a feeling I'll be filling my 50gal bin up with it here very soon =)

If you want to save money use peat-moss and perlite, lime.. its reusable.. I recycle my soil with no problems.. after the sensizyme/hygrozyme and you remove most of the root mass. It turns out as good as the first run. Try it, the worst thing that can happen is your out $20 and its availible online, in grow shops, and at the hardware stores.

Hopefully this entry can count.

The Kannabia Power Skunk poked it's head above the root riot today and got transplanted to a party cup.

It is a square bottom solo party cup that says it's 18oz.

DIY Air-Pruning cup and cover cup.

It seems a bit closer to 16 oz when I fill the 16oz cup and dump it into the 18oz cup. It looks like that first ring inside the cup should be pretty close to 16oz imo, and I am sure the pro-mix will compress a fair bit.

Watered in and moved to it's temporary veg home under the 2 bulb T5 HO. I am not sure how long it will veg, but it wont be very long. I start counting veg days tomorrow. It was put in water on 12/23 and popped open on 12/25. It got moved to a root riot tray, on the heating pad, with a dark cover until last night.
