It's funny how every article like this says coming soon. If only they know what soon really meant But anyhow, a greenhouse operation like that from people who already know how to grow some sort of "green" sounds good.

I've been seeing a lot of big deals getting announced lately, many involving mining and forestry companies looking to get into the MMJ market. There's a lot of money being thrown around and I'm not convinced that all of these outfits are fully aware of the current situation or the uphill battle that they face as a brand new applicant at this stage of the game.

Yeah seems everyday lately I'm reading a new CEO announcement or an acquisition deal. Everyone wants to get in on the "green rush"!

My guess is other industries, they like to diversify their losses, spread out thru , a wide variety of bad investments, culminating into the maximum loss possible.

Haha, most of these guys saying they're pre-licensed or pre-approved are going to be waiting at least a year till they're fully operational, minimum.

Last I heard it was 4-6 months just for the security screening portion of the application process.....it'll be way longer than a year for anyone that is just applying now IMO. All things being equal, it would likely be closer to two years before they would actually be up and running. I'm sure that some of these companies are well connected and carry some political clout and will be fast-tracked through the process though, it will be interesting to see which ones make it through and why.

Definitely gonna be interesting to see who gets on the list next, especially considering HC has been quiet for almost 2 months now

saw somewere theres roughly 580-600 applications, HC cant keep up. Only 51 or 61? i dont recall...LPs will be allowed to set up shop. Once growing rights are re-instated i wonder whats going to happen to the LPs lol

If growing rights are reinstated they will apply to very few or they will be super hard to get or if everyone who had them gets to grow as they had before then cannabis will be legalized. They will not kill this new industry, too much money, politics, involved by now. So whatever happens LP,s are here to stay in one form or another.

The mmpr was brought in as a precursor to legalization. The government can no longer ignore the billions of dollars being earned tax free, and is poised to cash in. When the mmar challenge is heard and won in February and those who fall under the mmpr demand the same rights, watch for hypocrite Harper to announce legal recreational use, just in time for the election. The brains behind some of the larger LP applicants are well aware of the problems with the mmpr and the limited patient pool. so I believe they are anticipating the same thing.

I'd rather see Harper lose out and see MJ made legal.
He's already taken most of our RIGHTS away from us and no one really seems to care.
You have no rights when pulled over at the side of the road anymore, with only a MADE UP suspicion.
Way worse that it was before.
Blood and hair sample can be taken at a road side stop weather you like it or not.

They parked a car in the street. Left it there for hours...Cornered a ton of people around it and would not let them out. FINALLY a cop burned the car...That's right...a masked cop in a black hood that started it. The same cop that took off his hood and arrested a person second later.

The use of PPL to make money is not tax free. Yes income tax from growers is not counted but a huge chunk of that money is spent in local markets so the gov take a huge chunk is PST and GST from that on top of income tax from business's employees where the money is spent. There's also corporate tax that is collected from any business that receives the money from services and products sold.

I own a hydro store and pay $2500-3500 per month in PST and $1500+ every three months in GST. On top of that I have to pay into income tax and corporate tax at the end of the year. That money came from licensed growers and other gardeners. Now multiply that by x100+ (Hydro stores in Canada) and you can see how much tax is made by the gov from PPL's. Add in any other market where that money is spend and the gov takes in probably 20% of all that weed money per year in income.

How much will they collect from LP"s from in Canada sales. Fuck all I suspect and being large corporations they can do more exotic accounting to reduce corporate tax and pretty much pay nothing in tax for the next few years.

The gov lies when it says that they don't make money from PPL and Illegal growers. That money generated just doesn't disappear into thin air is distributed through the whole system and tax is collected. They don't have to admit that and its easier for joe Canadian to think that money is lost.
