"New mothers are to be offered up to £200 in shopping vouchers to encourage them to breastfeed their babies."

I tend to think that there are countries a bit more fucked up politically than the UK, but having read this, i have my doubts.

What the fuckity fuck fuck has happened to society that we have to offer financial incentives for mothers to feed their own babies? I know shit parenting is an every day fact of lfe these days, but this takes it to a whole new level!

Who here has had children and chosen to buy milk powders and such?

Strangely i was looking on the back of tesco club card redemption coupons today (50p off when you buy X product, 50 points when you buy Y product) and strangely the T&C on the back stated that nothing was applicable to the understandables, like alcohol, tobacco, but strangely as well, babies milk formula. Half of me has me questioning why, but the other half sais good on them. Why in gods name can't mothers just do their god damned job all of a sudden?

Here in the US, it's a publicity thing. Bitches who apparently can't get enough attention in their daily lives have taken to hosting titty-ins where they all congregate and bust out the titties at the same time to feed a bunch of confused babies. It's pretty disgusting. (not the titties with babies dangling from them, more the groups and their need for attention)

Sent from my SCH-S720C using Rollitup mobile app

I am by no means a fool let alone an expert, but how were things dealt with in the past with regard to babies not latching on? Self lactating and fake teets?

To me its just about the financial incentive. The UK is generally known as a benefit state, sure there arguments either way but it really is, and this just takes things beyond any form of rationality. Not surprised though. Law and regulation, one after another, the western world seems to have removed parents from the equation of the upbringing of a child. It makes me a bit sad. More than sad. Livid. Wtd is wrong with parents. And the government. Ffs.

Convenience. If a mom's not around to breastfeed, she still needs to pump the milk out of her body or her body will think the baby no longer needs that much milk and the supply will get fucked up. For working mom's that is a lot of pumping and it gets to be too much for some of them. Then there are definitely some medical conditions where some women can't breastfeed. I'm sure you knew that. And yet some others that are just fucking lazy and probably shouldn't be breeding. My wife strictly breastfed our daughter until she was 8 months then started to supplement some formula because her supply couldn't keep up with our ravenous daughter's demands.
