pensylvania mids r disgusting usually
I would have to agree. Mids in 2011 are more like the regs of 10 years ago. I do remember a time when mids were good enough that today i could have sold that shit for 20 a gram to some HS kids. (I dont sell pot, just making a point) But the truth of that matter is that most of the commercial 'mids' in our area today all come from mexico where the emphasis is so high on production that the quality lacks. South of the border after the crop fully mature the plants are cut at the stem and left to dry in the sun, thus bleaching the THC and lowering its potency/taste/smell/effect. That being said ive seen plants grown here in PA from normal mexico mids that actually turn out to be beautiful plants when taken care of properly. Mids is a great choice for a first timer looking for seeds; theyre free and very abundant.

Oh btw if anyone wants to recommend me some seeds i am all ears! Im not gonna spend $200+ on ten seeds but i know there are plenty of great breeders with much fairer prices. So im lookin for something to yield well and have a flowering time of no more then 10 weeks. Thanks!

PA represent! South-East PA here. This will be my 2nd season outdoors. 1 of my 4 plants last year got found (because it was still growing into November) and it was near my others ,so now I am gonna have to find a new spot or at least deeper in the woods. :(

Not sure what strains to go with yet. Definitely something that finishes by September or early October. Last time I started to get some mold by October, so mold resistant strains like the (Pineapple Chunk) also look appealing. Here are some of the strains I am thinking about and the prices for feminized 5 packs:

Barney's Farms - Vanilla Kush (♀) [$54.69]
Barney's Farms - Pineapple Chunk (♀) [$51.47]
G13 Labs - Blueberry Gum (♀) [$48.25]
Nirvana - Ice (♀) [$40.21]
Green House Seed Co - Train Wreck (♀) [$40.21]
Green House Seed Co - The Church (♀) [$27.34]

Unless I do "Pick & Mix" then I will probably just get 2 different strains of packs of 5 feminized seeds. I'm leaning towards Barney's Farms Vanilla Kush or Pineapple Chunk and then something with a Bubblegum or Blueberry taste/smell. Let me know if any of you have any recommendations or have grown these strains before!

Dude I can't take much more of it this year. I'm seriously considering moving somewhere warm just to get away from it. It's been literally a sheet of ice here for the past week.

Sports car + nearly bald tires = me in a ditch at some point this winter.

And another thing I'd like to get off my chest, haha. I was thinking about this the other day, and there's only 3, MAYBE 4 months of what I consider nice weather here a year. April, May, September, and October. The rest of the time it's either freezing fucking cold and snowing, or like in the 90's with 80% humidity.

i feel ya i have a 08 ford mustang with racing tires not snow tires and a driveway with 3 inches of ice it is a pain in the ass to get anywhere but the kitty litter seems to be working good

Fo real.... makes you feel all sticky. Plus you can get grey mold and all your buds will turn to mush.
That's why I'm looking at strains that finish by early October. Temperature wise, I think most of us (except maybe the northern tier) are good til at least mid, probably late October, but it's so wet here in the fall. At least last fall was. I didn't get hit too hard with the mold, but I had to pick two of my girls a little earlier than I would have liked.

How about we discuss some strains that we have personal experience with growing outdoors in PA. I'll start

Highgrade Seeds: 2 hermies out of 12 1 of the hermies was chomped on by a deer
Super Bud- Fruity (citrus/berry) smell and taste with a little sour funk added in the smell. Nice strong Sativa high... overdoing can cause some serious have to lay down disorientation biggest yielded a half pound in an 8 gallon container finishes October 10-20... some had a beautiful pink colored pistils... no bud rot not on the originals not on my f2s 70/30 sativa
Poison Afghan 50/50 Durban poison/afghan earthy musky smell/taste very strong indica stone this is night night pipe stuff... ok yeilder 4 oz from 5 gal finishes first week of October with 30% amber was a bud rot problem if its humid or wet in the last 2-3 weeks

Greenhouse Seeds: no hermies ( was surprised)
White Widow- lemony with something i can only describe as like when you put a charged 9v battery on your tongue but in a good way... a tinge perhaps... a good hybrid buzz first high later stoned... covered in trichs but not as much as the greenhouse pics show... finished October 10-15 20% amber give or take a couple %... a small bud rot problem
Lemon Skunk- super ridiculous lemon smell later turns to a sweetish very lemony... great smell and taste not the most potent but not weak by any means... covered in trichs so much they looked like what the WW should have... finished october 15 at all cloudy with a slight touch of amber/clear
K-train- A wide Variety of smells in thhis one from skunky/musky to straight baby shit...final smell was slight fruity and really skunky taste was like a chemically ( not in a bad way or harsh) cherry/ cherry soda... very active high from hit one... i couldnt shut the fuck up or stop doing stuff (normally very quiet)... this is a freak grower very fast veg huge buds with the right pheno 2 from a 10 pack ready first week of october for the 2/10 and mid october for the others... no bud rot
The church- smells like sweet paint with a touch of menthol tastes like menthol weed nothing noteworthy other than that smell wise... purple buds with a nice buzz... very resistant to the weather (rain, cold, heat, wind) its a great deal for a 5 pack of outdoor stuff... no mold finished mid october but was started later than normal like it vegged 5 weeks and started flowering

Barneys Farm Flower power... some weird self topping mutant AF took forever to outgrow the mutant topping thing but once it did it turned out nice... earthy smell taste ok potency... interesting buzz... low yield small bud rot problemj
Lowlife Auto AK47 were very uniform nice fruity smell finished about 1.5 ft yielded about an ounce per, but i had problems with bud rot on half of them, good m/f ratio 6/2 and germ rate 8/10... The smoke wasn't great but much better than mids
Lowryder Diesel rider was disappointed with the plant but not the smoke... plant was small less than 10inches fully done... decent yield for as small as it was... smoke was fruity with very noticeable diesel smell

The not so great
G13labsThai Super skunk wont finish will mid november if you're lucky
Sensi Skunk #1 very strong sweet/sour smell.... worst hermie ive ever seen was so disappointed)
GHS Himalayan gold- 5 4inch tall runts... maybe just a bad pack
GHS White Rhino- great smoke no mold all i got was runts with popcorn buds (only 2 seeds)
WOS Domina Star- supposed to be 90% indica 2 were females 1 hermie.... and not a trace of indica in the 3 of them...no smell didnt finish
Seedsman White Widow- very similar to GHS WW but it took too long to finish needs late late october early november only bad is finishing time
