Ozone Generator

Ok so I am a first time grower and I am in an apartment with a closet that is about 3x2. I am looking to keep the smell to absolute minimum being that it is an apartment. I have had a few people that an ozone generator would do the trick. I found a Phillips brand Ozone generator here http://gardendesert.com/products/?view=product&product_id=3049 can someone tell me if this will work or if I need a carbon filter as well. Thanks!

Hehe. That is the one that I got. It will work. It is nice. Too nice. Get on craigs list and find a smaller one, especially for that small a space.

This is what you do. I have the same situaion. Get a smaller one or that one. Get a charcoal filter. When you are in the room turn it off so the charcoal filter does the job. When you leave turn on the ozone and make sure their is a window open too.

Ozone is awesome. But it can really hurt you. I did not beleive so I learned with the dry throat and the pain ful lungs and I think bad dreams. Lol.

I took mine and took the lid off and put it in the vent duct. It works like the big blue model does. Do that. :)

If you could do that and vent outside that would be awesome. Man, though with a space that small do you have like one plant? It wont be bad enough for a wharehouse size ozone genaeratot. It will be bad, but 3x2 is hard to imagine.

Well its actually 4x2 (like thats much different) typo. I guess I was going for that one because of the price haha but ill look into a smaller one. Heres another dillema though. This closet is the absolute center of the apartment. The closest window is about 10 ft away. Any alternatives to cutting holes in the walls with ducting?

I can picturie your apt. Maybe the ceiling and some repair work or a false door on the closet with vent holes. Maybe a tent and you will ok. In fact I suggest you get that tent on eBay for 100 dollars. I got it and it is cool. I use it to clone and veg, but it could flower too.

That would fit inside, then you have a contained space. That makes vent easier. attach a charcola filter. Forget the ozone generator. Lol, later if a prob, but I doubt it with a few little girls and a charcoal filter.

The only way I'd use a ozone generator is if I put it in an air tight enclosure away from plants and humans and piped the stinky air to it. There are a ton of stories on here about ozone generators fucking up plants even with a few hours of use on a timer. Personally I plan on investing in one (as they work great) however I plan on putting it in the venting system away from all life. By the way it still works great in the venting system. The air you pump out won't smell like jack shit (accept like O3). I really wouldn't put it in a room full of plants.

make sure you get an UV model as the corona discharge model produces nitric acid, which kills plants.

hey I went to go buy that and went looking around the site and noticed nothing else was really cheaper on the site so I went back looking for generator and realized the link you gave was for a replacement bulb NOT the generator.... Im glad I decided to look around before I checked out

The generator on that site goes for 165$ ... here is the link https://gardendesert.com/products/?view=product&product_id=3693
Oh damn I guess I was high and not paying attention hahaha. Sorry about that man, but thanks for noticing. They should clarify that a little more.

your not supposed to use it in a space that you live in it can be very harmful to you and your plants. You want to use it in a dead space (attic, crawl space, even a box) where all your exhaust goes before you exhaust out of your house. Thats why people put it in ducting and so forth because all that air is going outside not circulating around your house... here read this https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/86320-my-highest-reccomendation-inexpensive-unit.html

you can make an ozone generator alot cheaper than buying one. I have one in my set up. check this thread make sure that you vent it outside the room. I didnt do that with my first attempt and stressed my plants. as can be seen in my grow journal.
