Currently the plan is a 48"x48"x80" grow tent. I was going to build, but this perfectly fits my space (we have a 70'x4'x8' storage unit underground attached to the basement). I already did my best to insulate this space from the basement. Door is airtight (tent will be 40' from the door) and I used an expanding foam to fill in every gap I could find. There is an external vent which I plan on using for bringing in fresh air. I planned on venting exhaust with a 6" fan and charcoal filter into the space since the vent is small and I don't believe I can use it for both intake and exhaust.

Should use that vent for exhaust and the air from that space as intake

But the vent is the only air intake into the room. The vent is only 12" x 4".

I have 8' ceilings and it is plenty. I would love a few more feet of height but you can do well with that. Veg time is key for height. But lst helps in case they get out of hand.

If you plan to grow a years supply then look at heavy yielders like top44, big bud, skunk, etc.. I think you should expect about 1.5-2oz per plant on your first go around. Plus or minus. I suggest running coco coir. You can feed them more frequently and push em a little harder and should expect larger yields. It is essentially hydro with forgiveness! lol I don't want to overcomplicate things for you but with the spot being that narrow, I am thinking a vertical scrog would benefit you greatly. Especially only using one 600w. Look into it. Some great yields can come from it, and you get better light penetration for the space you have. I would do a lot of fimming on those ladies too. If you decide to go the coco route I am happy to help.

Using that vent for intake you're gonna be at the mercy of outside temps.... As an exhaust your intake temp will stay steady .... Won't be blowing the humidity back into your awesome basement bunker storage area

Air will pull from somewhere .... It already is or your walls would be black

I doubt that vent is an intake unless it's powered

Oh I know exactly where the air comes from. It comes from the apartment we have in the basement where my bat shit crazy mother in law lives. Years of smoking have killed her sense of smell, so not sweating that.

Is it safe to order everything I need off amazon? Can they use this to bust someone? I realize that if mail man sees boxes with everything needed for grow he might tip off one of his cop buddies, but everything I seem to get from amazon comes repackaged in amazon boxes. Just don't wanna make it onto a watch list for doing something dumb.

Everything you buy off of Amazon could potentially be for sprouting seeds for your outdoor vegetable garden, but who knows.Out on Rt 19 there is a decent hydro store. My Dad says it's packed with young growers. If I went there I'd probably pay cash.

Oh man.. If I had that space.. The forest I would have. I love the idea of a vertical scrog in there.

Buy everything from a hydro shop that you need to work all the time. Like lights, fans, ppm meters and that kind of stuff. A hydro store will usually give you a replacement on warrentied items the same day. If your controller unit fails innthe middle of flower your fucked if you have to wait for a replacement from amazon. Your hydro store will have you running again in one trip.

Did a little more research on the local hydro shop. Looks like the extra money will be worth it bc the quality of product and warranty. Thanks for steering me in the right direction everyone.

I'm still really concerned about temperature. How much insulation/heat retention do the nice grow tents provide? I am figuring the air intake will be coming in at around 45-50 degrees. So if I have a vent fan hooked up to charcoal filter on one of those thermostat outlets (switches fan on above 80ish degrees) will the lights get my space warm enough for the fans to kick on? Or will I need to have the fan on a timer to vent the space at regular intervals and a heater with a thermostat to maintain good temp? I actually have a really nice one of these, so if that's the case I'm good. I'm figuring this will be in the tent anyways for the dark hours.

My gameplan is to set this all up during germination/sprouting so I have a few days to dial everything in. Just trying to get a feel for possible adjustments that will be required.

Plug the exhaust fan in and let it eat.... No timer thermostat or speed controller...passive intake

So here is the other end of the unit. Would give me a 7x4' space. I'm gonna paint the walls (can I use Killz or is this a bad idea?) and build a fake wall. Nobody goes in here and the door will have a deadbolt (the key to witch I will wear around my neck with the nuclear launch codes in my pocket).
