I’m looking at those now. I guess I need to do more research on COBs and calculating wattage per sq ft as I don’t understand the price difference for what appears to be less wattage for double the price.
I have a 5x9 space. I used to use 2 x 1000w HID.
I replaced those with 4 x 335w cob led fixtures = 1340w.

Ideally, you want about 35ish watts of cob per sq ft. Im about 28 and thats working for me quite well.

Hey all, I’m getting a 4 x 8 grow setup and considering using 6 450w viparspectra leds to test them out. Do you think this would be overkill? I plan on using a hydro bubble bucket ebb/flow system and adding co2. Plan on growing 8 plants at a time.

Mainly curious is the led wattage is overkill. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You need to figure out the real watt draw of the led. If your using that much power I would go cmh or HPS. You sort need to know how to grow with led. CMH and HPS more foregivinng.

I use cobs. CMH and HPS. If u got more question about light just DM. I don't like getting into pissing wars about lighting.

I design on commercial side. So I we seen it all. Even the fancy fluence spiders

Better to use 2 630W CMH grow lights: full spectrum, improved quality, bigger bud, increased yield and less heat.
You can purchase them on our website www.sunplix.com. Please send an email to [email protected] to get a coupon code. After you use them, if you are not COMPLETELY satisfied with them, you can return them for full refund.David B-008.JPG CMH-630W DE Fixture.jpg

10 Samsung F series gen 3 strips and 4 custom made 2 foot red strips. With 60 660nm deep red diodes and 60 HE red diodes. Alternated for even red blending.
Dear whytewidow,
I really like your pictures. Very unusual reddish hues. It gives it a very Suspiria-ish look.

Gromau5's videos on youtube are a great place to start. Lots of tutorials of all levels. from understanding the basics into much more sophisticated items.
I second this. Gromau5 has GREAT videos that are also just fun to follow along because he knows how to make a tutorial look like a movie hah

Here is the setup I use with really great results:

I use MarsHydro lights and have great results. You can keep it cheap and simple and still have great results so don't be discouraged! I have friends that grow with much more expensive setups and I can assure you that my yield and quality is comparable to theirs.
Marshydro isnt saving you any money over DIY lights. The Quantum board 135 kit is 20$ more than a marshydro 600w and will at LEAST equal it's performance, with a far superior spectrum. LED strips take that cost down even lower.

And I have used marshydro and galaxyhydro in the past with excellent results. Tried led strips, and i will never go back.
