Outlet Timer Makes Noise?

Anybody else have a noisy timer? I'm one of those guys that's SUPER paranoid about fires

I hear my timer click on and off. Nothing other that that.
If you are worried. Change it, better safe than sorry.

Timers all have ratings, like extension cords. In some cases, a timer can be the weakest link in your system b/c not all are designed to handle a full 1800 watts...which I believe is about the max on standard 120V house current before breaker shuts off.

Analogue or digital? I have heard noise from new mechanical timers...doesn't mean there is something wrong.

I will agree with it being a weak link if the ampacity is overlooked.

My mechanical makes noise like you can hear it "winding", it shouldnt be excessive though. The one digital I had was silent.

Wow all these responses are appreciated! It's a mechanical timer with just a single outlet in my veg room. Definitely sounds kind of like a winding sound.... Maybe this is normal after all
