Is anyone growing outdoors in southern ontario? I was away for a week and my plants did a major stretch and are very bushy. I was wondering whether pruning or lollipoping outdoors plants helps or hurts?

I don’t grow there I’m in Illinois. I would suggest topping them.

Yes it helps. It could be argued it reduces overall yield but the quality of the yield, bud density, is much better IMO.

Its also allows more air threw the plant which will help prevent bud rot come Sept-Oct.
 
Thanks. One thing im a bit worried about is I dont have a shelter for rain and with all this rain I dont want mold. Ive been spraying with neem and milk/bicorbonate though so I'm hoping this will help.
 
What your applying will prevent powdery mildew but wont do much to prevent mold. Wet weather is ok right now as its hot enough through the day to dry things out.
 
In south west ontario (42 lat), if plants finish in late October or sometime in November, a dew shield (4 posts with clear plastic on top, sloping away) will stop evening and morning dew setting into bud. This reduces mold.

Thanks for this tip. Did you make one yourself or purchase it?
 
Diy. 4 metal posts, 2 ends taller so you can slope the plastic (for rain). Fasten plastic to the top. This solution works well for late flowering with cool over night temps that brings dew.

If you created outdoor scrog with posts, you are halfway there for protection.
 
this is the 6th year the Apple Jack strain, once imported from trinadad in 1970'sIMG_3650.JPG ,has regrown its self with no intervention from me.
I have only ever bred it with males of the same strain.... so technically I would lean towards calling it a landrace... This year I first saw this plant in march 2021 poking out of the snow....
I also leave these as natural plants....with out staking etc....since they are gifts from nature....this one grew in my compost spot from last year.
