Outdoor topping

Happy Saturday everyone

I could use some expert advice on topping.
I have outdoor photo period plants in organic soil (15 & 17 gallon )fabric pots. I just remembered that I usually bend the top over for LST, however some of my plants have really tough main stems and they are not budging. Is it too late to top them in California? The sun made it hard to get good photos of these two plants, but hopefully someone here can offer up some advice!

I forgot to mention that we get mold and bud-rot here and that is why I cant have one giant cola because no matter how diligent I am with my disease prevention, I always end up cutting off some bud rot :cry:

I would reccomend lst, not topping. And move her now to the ground in the garden so thatthe roots feel free to expand. U'll have a much rocher harvest and u willbe able to control the branchesmuch more easily. Let's not talk about the fact that you don't stress her performing lst. I will show you tomorrow my 3 plants with lst performed outdoor.

Every outdoor plant I have ever grown has had at least a bit of bud rot. Just pinch it off and move on!

Any chance you can move it to a garage or something at night to keep the moisture off of it? I have this one in a cart that I roll to the garage at night to hopefully keep the rot off. My first outdoor plant though, so we’ll see.

Your plants are super small for being in California in the month of August essentially. When did u start them

She has time if will perform LST right now. Bending the main stem as low as she can handle. In two weeks will stretch a lot. They will stretch even in first two weeks of flowering.

What a beautiful big plant!! Unfortunately I can not move them in at night. But I will do my best with prevention routines, I have been using regalia and something similar to actinovate, I can’t remember the name right now :weed:

I started some of them around mid June as seeds indoor for a few weeks and I bought two clones around 4th of July, it was a later start than usual for sure, I have been really busy this year. The weather has been different this year too, we got a LOT of rain and flooding, more than we have had in years. I think we got enough rain to help us out of the drought!
so the plants are young.

I took your advice and did tie the tops down. The one that was really tough has taken a few days but I just pulled it a little farther each day

They loved it! They are going through a growth spurt(maybe the stretch) I wish I could put them in the ground, my yard has less sun where I have room to put them in the ground. Do you think if they were growing in the ground instead of pots that they would be stronger against the mold?

The chances of mold appearing are higher when they are directly in the ground, due to the weather, rains, humidity... being in pots, the chances are much lower. Now let them grow and check week after week to bend the branches slightly. Summer is not over yet, implicitly they still have August as time to vegetate.
And during flowering, when it rains, try to cover them, so they don't develop mold... especially when they are blooming, you wouldn't want that!

Here you can see how I bent the main stem. I practically achieved an inclination of at least 50% of it. This plant is exactly in the same stage as your plants. the preflowers just showed up a couple of days ago. and I started it a week ago.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! Your plants are beautiful! I love your LST method! I never thought of tying it down using a few places on the same stem/stalk! It is great to know that my plants are on track with others! Thank you so much

Thanks! I know, a couple of them still aren’t showing pre flowers! Hopefully soon! I think we have about three more months of outdoor weather, but who knows! We have had a strange weather year!

I hope. I’ve never grown outdoors before, so I can’t say for sure, I just know they take 9 to 10 weeks once you have budlets, so that’s going to be pretty deep into fall, and I would assume cold weather will slow down the process. Here’s mine after 32 days since budlets set.

Where are y'all from plant's here just starting to bud just like Grandma's look. But bigger i am a outdoor grower not sure why you don't want rain on your plant if it hurt them i would never harvest. Turbo's plant's look good but no one here has bud's that big yet so good job .Some get ready end of Aug. mostly there end Sept. So they are just now starting to bud i do have some Cafe Racer that will be done 1st sept.Most outdoor here is not that far along. I wish they was but got long time still to grow here y'all must be up north. Nice plant's y'all. Dixie

I am on the central coast of California right near Santa Cruz. I have mine in 15 & 17 gallon fabric pots. Wish I had somewhere I could put them in the ground! I didn’t keep track of days but here are the seven I have and they are at different stages. One is an autoflower- I labeled their strains hopefully the upload works

Nice Why don't y'all grow bigger plant's ain't it legal to grow them? Just asking because i can't grow them like that here (In the back yard)so they have to get big and make it worth it.Love the plant's i wish i could do that here. Heart of Dixie
