decomposing pine needles in soil Will raise the PH. i dont know why anyone would want to start growing in an area where the PH was off anyway. any pine tree thats been growing for years will drop needles, and where do you think those needles fall? they dont fall up.

Yes, yes yes... I know about gravity None the less, it has been shown scientifically that pine trees will not raise your PH in the soil. Will you find Pine trees in more acidic soil? Perhaps... perhaps not.

I'll put it this way....

If PH represented the Earths weather, then minerals would be the sun..... needles would be carbon gas. Both are measurable quantities but the VOLUME of the minerals far outweigh the volume of needles.

i think your totally right about pines growing in acidic soil. i just figured it was the pine needles that fall every year that make the soil more acidic. i wasnt trying to be a dick or argue with you, honest. i just always heard the soil wasnt so great.

I know you din't mean to come across as arguing and I didn't take it that way....

You are right about Pine tree areas usually being poor in soil content as far as growing weed. However if the PH (you should check) isn't okay, then amend the soil with compost or bagged material.

So you are in the ball park as to pine tree areas in soil quality.... but PH if okay when planted .. will not rise.. unless you do it yourself mistakenly as you nute them. The Pine trees will live in harmony with your plants once a sweet spot is found.

It's a common confusion.... wee

The big belief about Pine & acidity comes from seeing a Piney wood thicket, where NOTHING grows underneath them. Between the needles & lack of sunlight, maybe that's the reason.

Yes it is... pine needles are a natural surpressent to keep competitive undergrowth from forming much like a Black Walnut tree does, although the methods differ.....

Let's just cut to the quick on this one.... if you are going to guerrilla grow weed, it will be UNUSUAL to find soil that will be just right for weed. Amending the soil will be a must for a superior grow. If you are going to take the risk (depending on where you reside) then you should get the most out of your venture that you can.

Myself, I prefer to use pots no matter where i grow outdoors. I can mix whatever blend I want and move them if events require.(hail, hurricane, tropical storm, deer).

If oyu have palmettos near or in your Pine trees then I would place them in the crown of the palmetto, which keeps them off the ground and away from eyes and deer.

What is a palmetto? And if i were to mix bag soil with the dirt on the ground and keepnthe needels away i should get a lil more safe ph?

Lest we all remember that cannabis enjoys a slightly acidic soil, so if pine does cause the soil to be more acidic, GREAT!!! so long as soil ph isn't under 6.2

Uhhh, how can you possibly live in Floriduh, and not know what a Palmetto is?

Step away from the TV set and walk outside....

Here's an informative link if you are interested...... by placing the pot in or near the crown of the palmetto, they get great camo from passer by's, two or four legged. It also lets them drain better in the summer when the heavy rains come......

thanks for the info wasn't sure if palmetto's were good to grow around for cover..i'm also planing a major grow down here i florida...

Well that bottom pic is definitely a managed area which has been fired... if you find a site untouched it will completely hide your grow and the plants will still have access to the sun. I would suggest spreading them out a bit and make a map..

Naturally stay away from human trails.... use wildlife trails but don't put them within reach of a passing deer or cow.

What do you mean by put them in the crown?

Sorry.... the top of the plant. Once you are out in a mature patch of Palmetto, it will become clear. Some of the Palmetto tops can get 8 foot tall....but I'd stick with three foot or so.....as long as they aren't dwarfed by a tree nearby.....u'll get sun with dappled palm frond shade. It's good cover and your plants are now in a SEA OF GREEN..... it's very hard to see weed in Palmettos until you are right up on it.....this is why you should make a map....better not to leave sign... I guess a GPS would be the ticket eh?

How are you putting them in the top of them? That makes no sence i found a great place with some of them plants around goin back tomaro 4 some soil tests. Quick question. How smelly do plants get when they grow up? You wouldnt be able to sell 2 plants from 20 to 30 yards away would you?

Well it doesn't have to be smack dab on top....wherever you can wedge it in place. Just make sure it will be secure from any high wind storms. The palmettos will also break wind patterns up so thats a plus as well. just play with them until you hit a sweet spot. I suppose you could run rope through the pots before you fill them with soil if you want to lash each plant to the Palmettos.

One final tip..... splotch your pots with green.... like a John Deere green. This will break up the pattern of the pot. Don't forget the map!!

How much will it smell? That depends on the strain.... weed can be fragrant, no doubt. You may be too late but if this is a real concern to you, next year start them early inside and match the palmettos bloom with your weeds. Palmettos typically bloom march through April. they are VERY fragrant and in my opinion makes the very best honey.....Better then Orange and Clover is horrific next to Palm honey. Palmettos in bloom will mask any smell.

sweet thanks. i didnt realize u were talkin about growin them in buckets. i thought u ment just plant them on the top of the plant. thats what confused me. im lookin to actualy grow in the ground not in pots.

Oh okay no problems.... you can find plenty of semi open land amongst the Palmettos ... just stay away from trails...
