Outdoor Mothers - Experiences?

I have been searching the forums for the past few days, looking for a real discussion on cloning from outdoor mothers...

I put my banzai mother (~6 months old, 1.5' tall) outside about a month ago and am wondering if I will have any troubles cloning her. Any tips/tricks to working with an outdoor mother would be appreciated.

I am honestly just excited about a huge bush in the Fall, but to free up my limited veg room space with an effective outdoor mother would be awesome.

Yes you can clone off your mother anytime outdoors even in flower. I would recommend taking clones before flower though so you don't have to reveg them. The only draw back of cloning from a hardy outdoor plant is that it may take a bit longer for the harder stem to soften and pop roots. Some peeps will scrape the stem with a razor blade to speed up the process but i have found it to be a waste of time. Good rooting powder, Superthrive and a medium is all you need. Hope that helps :peace: A2L

Thanks for the reply!

I was holding a couple clones in the veg room to be future mothers, but sounds like I shouldn't have a problem with just the large mother outside. What a great way to open up my small veg room. I can't believe I haven't heard more about this...

only prob is she will die in winter, but yes youcan free up that space for 6 months or so.
Cut off more branches(about 12-15") than needed
Mist the branches and put in a container
As soon as you get home re-cut the branches to desired clone size with sterile blade/scissors on an angle cut then complete normal cloning proceedure.
Make sure you get a new mum for indoor prior to flowering( late July)

I use outdoor mums every year, gives me more room inside. I can use the mum room for flowering all summa. gotta luv dat.
Only thing i mind is a real strict bug extermination policy.
I do use the razor to scrape the stem with amazing results.
Practice practice practice. and it wont matter where your getting your babies, they will root.
