Outdoor lover forced to move inside...

ive grown outdoors for years and loved it. i love what the real sun does to plants. last year i was forced to rip up my entire crop because a helicopter was hovering over the surrounding area, and proceeded to then hover over my house shortly after i tore all my girls to bits. so with the help of a friend who is like minded(ill call him doosh) and has a bit more free space than i do, we're on our first adventure into indoor territory.

the idea came in the midst of a severe high:eyesmoke:. doosh takes me to his basement and shows me a frame that had been left there from the previous resident. floor to ceiling, 3 feet wide, 10 feet long. i knew what he was planning before he said a word. split it in half, veg room on one end, flower room on the other.

we started the veg room that very day, as i was in a mood for carpentry;-) me having the nickname of technician, i went to work throwing up sheetrock while yelling measurements to him for cutting. we went to the local hardware store and bought a dual bulb light fixture, a 30 watt breaker amp, a 50 foot roll of wiring and two 300 watt daylight CFLs. i wired them directly to the fuse box and voila, we have a veg room.

weeks passed by and we're beginning to have more heady well known varieties of seeds than we know what to do with, and are germinating them as fast as we dare. another friend got busted and gave us all his seeds that he had bought from holland. jamaican red hair, bubbleberry, blueberry, and skunk #1, as well as his 450 watt HPS hood, ballast, and bulb. somewhere in there doosh found one seed of Adirondack Gold, which is amazing because we had heard of it from old school guys around the Adirondack mountains where we lived and thought it was a near mythical strain from the 70s like Acapulco Gold. myth reborn.

we put up the sheetrock in the flower room and got the HPS fired up with its first round of flowering girls. by now we've now got too many plants to fit into the veg room, and doosh suggests i start a makeshift veg room at my house. done and done. its quite ghetto but gets the job done, and well. its a closet shelf that ive closed off and added around 400 watts worth of CFL lighting. its only for the early stages of life anyway, so what the hell right? what the hell indeed.

ok so you may have noticed its not a perfect timeline, but this will get better as the thread goes on because ive gotten more vigilant with taking pictures of each strain as it develops. you may have noticed two rather large plants in the very back of the room in one of the pictures above. the one on the right is one that doosh started in a kitty litter pan in an inch of soil that looked like it came from the side of the road.(haha i hope he gets pissed when he reads that, but its the truth!) the one on the left that is a big two branched bush has led quite a life.

im not sure exactly where its life began or how long ago that it began, but at some point about a year ago a friend of doosh's bought some Querkle seeds(one of SUBCOOL's purple strains, subcool is a master, and i strive to grow like him). well this plant was under 24 hour lighting in some unknown closet as their only mother plant, and it was getting TORTURED. i mean HACKED to HELL. we thought we were getting something amazing when doosh was asked to babysit this mother Querkle for a month or so as its owner was in the midst of a move across town. the plant had obviously been topped early in life, and where it had been topped it was SPLIT. right down the middle. about a two inch split. there were huge holes chopped out of this plant. there was pieces of rope that had been tied to the plant for so long that they had badly scarred the stem. the rehab that doosh put this plant through i am truly amazed with. i commend him on his work here. its now a fairly massive bush, and has yielded quite a few very nice clones for us. it will undoubtedly yield a few more before it goes home, and hopefully when the original owner sees how she SHOULD look, then he will take better care. one can only hope, because this strain is a masterpiece.

i have just found out that i have only before pictures of this plant on the computer, and the post rehab pictures are still on the camera at doosh's. next post will be of the post rehab Querkle and ill get into the first round of flowering girls. peace.

ok well i lied i decided to post some pictures of the first flower before i put up the Querkle rehab, but it wont be long.

all of these girls are bagseed. nothing terribly special, just buds that we smoked and liked and happened to find seeds in the bag. since neither of us smoke brick weed(pot snobs...at a certain point you have to be:roll:) and at the time we had not yet obtained anything high powered, we grew what was at hand.

the one in my signature is taken the moment before that particular female was put into the 12/12 under the HPS. the first picture on the bottom is of her in pre-flower, and actually my avatar is her top cola.

the second picture is of two plants in one bucket. they started together and doosh decided that they were so good together that he just left them that way. turned out quite well as you can see in the third pic in pre-flower and fourth pic a few weeks in.

they're a bit short, but overall, not bad at all for the space constraints and the fact that neither of us has a whole lot of experience with indoor cultivation.

theres a couple others in there, but you get the general idea. ill start posting a lot more when things get interesting with the high powered strains.

heres a few of the stuff ive got going on in my veg room. the first is of the primary area where all the little girls(hopfully!) start out. i have since ceased using the cardboard pots, theyre a terrible pain in the ass and a waste of time in my opinion. oh well, live and learn.

not sure if you can tell but theres a few Querkle clones in there(some of which were failures because, well, ive never raised clones before. ive always been a seedling type of guy.) theres also the only adirondack gold(which ill show you newer pics of next), some blueberry, bubbleberry, and a couple jamaican red hairs. at this stage you definitely can see the difference on the ones that are indica dominant, as the leaves are SO chubby.

the second, third, and fourth pics are all of different angles of the Adirondack Gold. this has the chunkiest leaves i have ever seen. its lateral growth compared to vertical growth is astounding. ive never seen anything quite like it, and it makes me :hump: wanna hump it. haha it really is quite amazing.

ok so here are the rehab pictures of the Querkle, and one of the near harvest stage of the hairy girl under the HPS. also, we're at the bar the other night and someone notices that doosh looks a little pale these days. he replies "the only sun i see is an HPS". i love it.

the Querk is finally going home today. its about time, since its been giving the rest of our stuff mites and taking up far too much room in a small space. at least we got some great clones off of her.

the first one here is of a breeding male bubbleberry. cant wait to cross that sumbitch with something.

second is a male that mysteriously looks just like the ADK female, and it did come from the same source. maybe we got lucky and it is?

third is a jamaican redhair that is double topped and is obviously loving live...i love her too.

the last one is just a collage of the amazing menagerie of strains we have. and no i dont bullshit, these strains are all for real. doosh just has some really connected friends. i cant say that i helped much in this particular department but i try:-)
