ive grown outdoors for years and loved it. i love what the real sun does to plants. last year i was forced to rip up my entire crop because a helicopter was hovering over the surrounding area, and proceeded to then hover over my house shortly after i tore all my girls to bits. so with the help of a friend who is like minded(ill call him doosh) and has a bit more free space than i do, we're on our first adventure into indoor territory.
the idea came in the midst of a severe high. doosh takes me to his basement and shows me a frame that had been left there from the previous resident. floor to ceiling, 3 feet wide, 10 feet long. i knew what he was planning before he said a word. split it in half, veg room on one end, flower room on the other.
we started the veg room that very day, as i was in a mood for carpentry me having the nickname of technician, i went to work throwing up sheetrock while yelling measurements to him for cutting. we went to the local hardware store and bought a dual bulb light fixture, a 30 watt breaker amp, a 50 foot roll of wiring and two 300 watt daylight CFLs. i wired them directly to the fuse box and voila, we have a veg room.
weeks passed by and we're beginning to have more heady well known varieties of seeds than we know what to do with, and are germinating them as fast as we dare. another friend got busted and gave us all his seeds that he had bought from holland. jamaican red hair, bubbleberry, blueberry, and skunk #1, as well as his 450 watt HPS hood, ballast, and bulb. somewhere in there doosh found one seed of Adirondack Gold, which is amazing because we had heard of it from old school guys around the Adirondack mountains where we lived and thought it was a near mythical strain from the 70s like Acapulco Gold. myth reborn.
we put up the sheetrock in the flower room and got the HPS fired up with its first round of flowering girls. by now we've now got too many plants to fit into the veg room, and doosh suggests i start a makeshift veg room at my house. done and done. its quite ghetto but gets the job done, and well. its a closet shelf that ive closed off and added around 400 watts worth of CFL lighting. its only for the early stages of life anyway, so what the hell right? what the hell indeed.
