Outdoor Growing India

Hi...I am new to this forum ..but an old smoker...I have been reading a lot about outdoor cultivation and have decided to give it a try . Since I am doing it for the first time and would like to omit the indoor hassle of bulbs and electricity and also because a country like India almost everything goes unnoticed, I would like to start off with outdoor growing. Al tough I have done my basic research I would still like to ask experts and have their opinion as to which are the recommended weed strains( Indica or Sativa or a cross) for growing outdoors in a climate like India( 18-20 deg. N ) in a state like Maharashtra for beginners. I would like someone to throw some light on my question soon because its already May and I need to order my strains in time so that I can plant them on already chosen plot of land in the wilderness. Also kindly enlighten me on what would be an ideal height to grow these plants above sea level ...because Maharashtra has plains as well as hilly mountainous regions with a decent altitude and heavy rainfall from June to September....

Yes try to get a mold resistant indica or a sativa. Grow the plants as high as possible above sea level ,the plants like the cooler nights and the suns rays are less affected by pollution. Be carefull of ripoffs you potentially have a billion of them.

Thank you for the tip. And i'd like to also know ... if its better to saw the seed into a pot and let it germinate for a month before burring it with the pot outdoors or saw the seed directly into the earth ...because I read that if the soil composition is not right then the plants health will get affected. Hence I'm skeptical of directly throwing the seeds into the ground. And also would you suggest MANDALA SEEDS for acquiring strains as I heard that they use mostly Indian strains. Thank you.

Personally, I prefer starting seeds or clones in a pot for at least a few weeks so they can start a decent root system. Seedlings in the ground are very susceptible to being eaten by bugs or too much moisture, or not enough

Thank you for the prompt reply. I would also like to ask you your personal recommendation for the strain that I need to chose. My friend grew a sour diesel trainwreck cross indoors in the city and he did manage an average yield. But since I am planning outdoors I'd like experts advice on it. Since outdoor cultivation has factors beyond our control such as rainfall , moisture , etc. I have been suggested to go in for Indica strains which are easy to grow for beginners or cross strains such as the BIG BUD.

Don't know about any particular strain, but generally speaking Indicas are more hardy for conditions like you have. Do some googling and use India as part of the search, you'll probably find some good recommendations for your area

theres plenty of landrace sativas that would grow well in your area with the humidity, im sure theres landrace indicas fit for it as well but you may have to do some research, try royal canadian marijuana collective, they have a wide range of plants that are fit for your conditions, might have to do some reading but its worth it.

Get The Church by Greenhouse Seed Co. it is completely mold resistant and is grown all over India as is shown in the India episode of Strain Hunters, have you seen that show man? If not you should check it out on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8iVJG3W1Ms I am growing the Church right now and I cant wait for it to be done! It is a relitivly new strain and has not been entered in the Cannabis Cup yet AFAIK. GOOD LUCK FRIEND!

Hey Rajdeep,

I'm from ND and have an indoor grow coming on at the moment. Was looking to do some outdoor growing myself.. My suggestions

Try some local bag weed seeds first and sensimilla them. They are best acclimatized and the hardiest. Having said that if you want to buy seeds the best for the Maha climate will be a sativa or mix. Indicas ususally do better in slightly cooler hilly climates.I am looking at buying Kalichakra from Mandala. (can take high temps, mold and all the other stuff our climate has to offer)
It's a very hardy plant and if you can baby sit it till 3 true leaves then it's virtually unstoppable outdoors.
Pot them indoors in coco peat (Any garden shop has it) and water with plain tap water till about three leaves and increasing sun gradually over a wee, then plant outdoors. You can add compost or better cow manure when planting. After that fertilize only once a month. Should grow fine.

Cheers

Indoor grow pics, Grew Northern Lights, Chronic juicy, sweet deep grape..

Harvested NL and CJF, tried cloning SDG and successful. Clones coming along in two weeks.

Used a 100 W LED made in china...(contrary to what people are writing the lights work beautifully.. During flowering added a couple of warm CFLS 40 W each for good measure but not really required. Gave water soluble fertilizer around 1400 ppm avg.NL 1.jpgNL 2.jpg
