I always have grown outdoors, and was tryin to start up a little grow room over the winter.. I have a 400 watt metal halide lamp and plenty of top quality seeds to start out. I have two closets, one is 3.5 ft by 3.5 ft wide 8 feet high closet and the other closet is 3.5 ft wide 10 ft. long and 8 ft. high. I was just trying to start off with 5-6 feminized seeds and use the same fox farm fertilizers i used for my outdoor plants. Now would the smaller closet be big enough for 5-6 plants and would i be able to get any air circulation in there with the plants so the temp doesnt get to high. Also is it safe to put the 400 watt light in the small closet and not worry about it causing any fires? Then the only downfall I was worring about with the larger closet was that when the 5-6 plants are more mature and larger will the 400 watt light be enough light for the plants when they are larger or do I need more lighting... any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

lighting shouldn't be an issue. heat will be. you have to able to put fresh air in and hot air out somehow. can you duct to window or out ceiling??

Yeah i do have a window near by my closet i could duct to there, i was just wondering if that 400 would be enough for 10 mature females in that area or would i need a 200w hps of 400w hps bulb also and just put it in a reflector for the flowering stage if i decided to put 10 plants in this area??

I planed onhaving a fan in the area and a duct out the window and i was just gona get a 20 dollar reflector from lowes which is a 8 in circumfurence and i was wondering if that would work for 200 w hps bulb

Do yourself a favor and buy a new door so you can drill some holes in it and maybe use the old door for a table?

You could get some milk crates or boxes to lift the door

You can buy 4 inch drill bits at the Home Depot for $ 29 & get some 4 inch inline duct fans, I have some in a small space now and they run @ 80 cfm

You may need more cfm's but you can always unplug the internal fan and just use it as a pipe, I upgraded to a 165 cfm with speed control
