Outdoor grow forced flowering

Hi guys my first outdoor grow planted june 16. Did not flower so on August 20th i started covering my plants with garbage bags so they only receive 12hr of light. August 26 they started budding but i still cover them with garbage bags. Do you guys know if it's ok now to stop covering them with bags. Or do i have to continue to cover ther plants so they only receive 12hr of light. I live in Canada frost average date is sept 24th.

Hey siri how many hours of day light today....14 hrs=no more garbage bags needed for light ,but it will help for the cooler nights.

I put mine in pots so I can move them into an insulated shed,I started about 20 days ago.Another 2~3 weeks and ill just hang a light in there to finish.

My question was more about if i still need to put garbage bags over them. So you saying im good since is 14hr light? No need to cover them?

I have mine in pots on a raised bed, and i built a greenhouse on top so they are warm at night and in day i open the green house.

I wouldn't stop the light deprivation until the days were 12 hours. You've already induced flowering so lengthening the daylight hours could potentially make the plants start to reveg. But if your average frost date is September 24th you have bigger issues to deal with. There is no way those plants will finish by then. Even in a greenhouse they can get too cold unless you can heat it some way.

Depending on how big your greenhouse is you might just be able to cover it with some black plastic sheeting rather than cover each plant with a garbage bag where you cut off the airflow to the plant and invite mold and PM.

Its the hours of darkness that trigger the flower,this is why we veg at 6 hrs of dark not 7or 8.
10 hrs of pure dark is plenty,now you have to be careful about other lights.So maybe keeping the bags on or just a blanket over may keep any stray light from kreeping in.

So i should be good not to cover them, we have 13.07 hr of daylight here:

They can flower with over 12hrs light.

It’s not a magical number in nature.

The sun sets and rises progressively. Once the photons go below a certain level no photosynthesis can take place.

So that’s probably why they started budding after only 6 ‘dark’ nights.

But best to be safe than sorry in your case.

But it ain’t all that strict ;)

How did it turn out? I'm tarping/force flowering starting week four but wanna know if i can stop...14 hours of daylight but i'm on a west facing balcony so ambient light 6 am to 1 pm and sunset by 8 - any ideas?

I put the tarp on after lights out (after 9 pm) and take it off before lights on (around 9-10 am). Not fully sealed (small light leaks from sides..) but flower is in full swing now. idk if i stop doing this, even after equinox, as the days get shorter, if the increase in light between 6 am and 10 am (even if ambient/not direct) will cause it to re-veg; wondering if the plants are in week 4+ if it'll remain in flower. I don't mind doing this for another 4-5 weeks but as the weight packs on, don't wanna stress them out from the physical contact..

That’s a good question. I personally wouldn’t wanna risk it. I would also be concerned mold once the weight packs on with a tarp laying over em without airflow. How big are the plants?

This was 2 weeks ago, might take a video today when the sun comes out. it's been cloudy for months but bout to get 7 days of sun..! And here is the original post/question..

Yeah concerned about mold/airflow/humidity at night. snapping side branches. damaging top colas (already look bruised n hairs touched..)
