I live in Canada an my frost is mid September too.
I havnt found a solution unfortunately but I do know that the first frosts are mild enough for your plants to with stand.
They can sometimes live through temps of minus 5.
When your plant goes through a frost it shocks them and they feel like they must make a last ditch effort to produce more THC and resin.
It also makes them mature a little faster.
I know I'll have to harvest a little early and iv accepted it.
Have you?

No, I live in North Eastern Washington state. The average frost for our area is middle of September. My kids are due first of October. Just trying to get ready for the fall harvest.

Clem, I haven't accepted it. I'm going to do whatever it takes to let my babies reach maturity. If I have to buy 6 heaters, dig 5 fire pits, and build a pvc tent around them to keep the kids warm, then that's what I'll do. Unlike Venison, marijuana doesn't taste better while young. Exactly the opposite I think.

Ok, since there aren't any other ideas, I've decided to go with wind/sun protection fencing around the garden and two 18' diameter porch/deck heaters. Plan on running them on low after about 10pm on the nights that we're supposed to have frost. Thanks all for your ideas. Keep on tokin'.
