Outdoor flower time question

Long time lurker with question about flower time.

In the so cal area, day length started declining on 6/22. I figured id see flowers start on 7/20. My two biggest plants did start that day.

My strain takes 9-10 weeks to flower.

Did that time start on 6/22? Or 7/20? Flowers are massive, I can tell they have some time to go. Any ideas how long?

I have othe plants about 3 weeks behind.

from my location stretch starts under 15 hours and flowering starts at under 14 hours. today we have 13.47 hours of sun so i should be seeing week one of 12/12 looking plants this week or next week

Just on this thread alone you can see the confusion of "stretch". GG has flowering begin at the start of "stretch" and clouds has "stretch" preceding flowering.

This could be just like that old song, living on Tulsa time, if you just replace indoor for Tulsa.

OP, when you are outdoors, you need to forget about 12/12. That is an indoor thing.

The length of day gets a little shorter everyday between Summer Solstice {June 21st} and Winter Solstice {December 21st}. When the nights get longer than 10 1/2 hours, most strains will trigger to flower.

I have pistils formed and growing from month 2 since germination. But when I say flowering I mean pistils start getting thicker and calyxz swell. Some people do not consider something to be in flower until the pistils have formed clusters.
However if you think about when one times flowering indoors, when you flip the lights first thing you see is the stretch. This is counted as part of flowering. Don't know why the outdoor growers do not count this.

Sometimes it's hard to tell what is stretch and what is normal growth until you do see buds forming. That is when I count as start of flower.

I know why people do it...but if that were truly the case then I wouldn't be able to grow up here. Some of mine are just starting to form the noticeable clusters. So if I grew an 8 week strain I wouldn't be done growing til late oct. Or nov. And would never be able to finish.

Here is one I seen today just starting and she will be done in plenty of time.20180828_094826.jpg

i use stretch like that because in my location outside my plants stretch for a few weeks and dont show any budding then they fold up and start making buds. inside the same strain will stretch and show buds at about two weeks. outside plants grow different they go with the changing light cycle,

mine are about a week behind you mine should be at that stage by the 5th-10th. i will be done around oct 31- or the 15th nov

I used stretch as the start of flowering for my outdoor grow. It was during stretch that buds sites started to develop and pistils began to appear at those sites. I did not count from first pistils at the nodes. So based on my grow notes, my flowering stage began on 7/27, when stretch was observes to start, so I am in week 4 of flower, give or take a few days.
