If you hanged up and air dried for 7-10 days here you will have nothing to show for our hard work. I know this from personal experience right now. I've lost around 4-5 lbs of top quality bud due to mold.
It's been 10-12 degrees warmer than usual and it has felt like a sauna with humidity on some days at 98% and misting rain. I've lost a great deal even outside in the weather that left simply because I have way to much to do. Buds are black outside in the elements and white mold while it's hanging up in the shop with fans blowing directly on them and a good sized humidifier trying to dry the air down some. Hopefully the cold front that comes through in a couple of days will push out all this humid air.

It all depends on your climate and your conditions as well as your type of bud if it's dense nugs or foxtails.

I listened to others on here claiming the need to hang dry for a week to 10 days and now it cost me thousands.
Of course I got some huge plants compared to small ones like most have. Mine are mostly 10 foot to one that is 15 ft tall. She is a pure landrace sativa "mulane".

Bro, all i did was throw a pop-corn nug in the jars, re-moist like new. Pop the tops for a few hours. The are right to the touch(take out the pop-corn nug if its really, really, fresh OR over, overly moist.I smoke a lot of weed) And the smoke is clean. High is execellent- I'm like the best "husband" in the worls right now. CTFU. How I like it speedy-and-racey. I had a meth habit way back, probably the reason. BUT MARIJUANA OVER ERRRTHANG!!!

HAPPY GROWING!

My whole mental time frame was mid october- at the latestest, the last week of october. But the views of trichs was a misnomer to me. I think I missed the "pruning". My last female in a 2 gallon geopot I'm going to leave her until all the leaves fall off?? She looks real healthy. I use EarthJuice and water everytime with Molasses.

*****SPOILER ALERT (MAYBE)*******

I'M USING ONLY 3 GALLON GEOPOTS AT THE LARGEST......:leaf:

also i found mould in a few of the most dense buds. should i now inspect all of the buds right to the middle before i hang them? how easily do the spores spread to other buds i guess is what im asking. I can spot the bud rot before the mould completely reaches the outside

Once dry the spores are more likely to become air borne and infect the the whole harvest and can effect you and others with respiratory problems , if you have bud rot it's always best to remove all traces before drying and curing.

hey MojoRison, do you find light greatly affects taste/potency while drying, or is the RH and temp more important?
Though all are important when curing, light will start to degrade the plants material and THC molecules faster then you would want when curing, so it's best to dry them in a darkened room, RH and temp come into play when you're adjusting between drying and curing, too much or too little of each will effect the buds taste, smell, overall appearance and shelf life. I'm still very new to this game and may not have the best advice about this subject, but if I'm completely of base I'm sure someone will point that out lol.

Best of luck

want tight nugs? hang till nice n crispy on the outside start to trim see if its just right to trim, if its real wet when starting to trim let it hang for two more days, then go back to it n start trimmin, get u some TURKEY BAGS now add all the bud u just trimmed in the turkey bag, now twist it up I like to get it tight what were doin there is a: startin a cure b: that twist it up is now shaping them buds into nice hard nugs.....now everyday open it up and shake it movin buds from the bottom to the top n do the twist again after so long once u got the right moisture etc put it into ur jar and theres ya funkiness.....100% works everytime for me.....if u wanna go further I don't really recommend this cause it smashes the tricromes but u can vaccum seal it once its dry enough I know someone who does that....we call that shit moon rocks....solid as shit...but I don't recommend it but to each or her own.....

CameraZOOM-20131016163647949.jpgI've noticed the popcorn nuggets I put in tissue paper (different harvest 3 days ago ) smell and look awesome. Not as dry as the ones hanging. I pulled down the ones hanging and wrapped them in tissue with some newly fresh cut buds in a brown paper bag. I individualy wrapped each stem. Except for the one in the picture. I was high. I'm always high. Everything seems like a great idea! Anyway...

Biscuit kid I will try that. Winter project coming up

EDIT :: I also notice that my personal on person carry jar (I leave it in my center console) the buds are moist and sticky from being in the hot car. The smell and taste has improved too

This picture was not from the jar in my car said bud from OP

if your looking for premium bud please do not ever try this not only will shaking you bud knock all the good trichs off, plastic is terrible for trichromes in general and the taste and smell gets all nasty and grassy again. I let everything hang for maybe 10 days upside down just like they do with flowers to preserve them. Without any of them touching each other of course and have a constant fan oscillating on both sides at about 45% relative humidity and lower it slowly to 35% over the course of the 10 days. then i place all of my bud in airtight jars and let them burp of course every couple of hours ( i have too much time just make sure to not let them sit in the jar all day and get nasty) burp until the smell is appealing and then i feel them if the stems are crispy and the bud is semi crispy. i do the same process with drying my trim for hash except i freeze my trim at the end until i'm ready to blast some hash

There are a bunch of folks who dry or cure in a bag or turkey bag, buckets etc, I don't think he meant to shake the piss out of it as in making keif. No matter what you dry or cure in depending on the moisture of the flower you have to get the wettest parts of the flower unstuck and up to the top and not let sit in the bottom and mold. Circulation .....

LOL, where did I say keep in plastic forever?...I said till the moisture level u prefer is there, trichromes r gonna fall off regardless if u put them in jars or a turkey bag, have u ever looked at the side of your jars or at the bottom? the technique I shared, has always worked, n the whole "nasty and grassy again" LOL let me just tell u I kept all my trim in turkey bags for a whole yr, left the popcorn nugs this summer I ran out of my supply of last yrs, I opened up my "turkey bag" full of trim and popcorn buds, picked thru and got me a nice fat joint out, guess what it tasted like? just like last yrs buds tasted, it wasn't harsh or nasty green tasting..tasted just like the bud I had in my jars o and also the trim had the same smell as last yr had someone make some bubble n guess what? still tasted like the strain....do what u do....but let it be known where a lot of that premium grade u see in the dispense if it was some outdoor it probably hit the turkey bag....just sayin.....

dense buds outdoors are largely a result of genetics and maturity. it's not uncommon for weather to shut down outdoor grows before they are fully ripe. assuming perfect weather, well lit and fed plants with the disposition to do so should produce big chunky colas. it does often take longer for the same strain to finish properly outside compared to inside and the extra weeks can be maddening... I also think cold temperatures can make a denser nugget, whereas the same strain grown in a warmer climate might mature with the flowers a tad looser.
Cold weather helps in tightening em up
