I was giving a pair of these little bad boys
and on the lite itself it reads "natural light supplement"
It doesnt say anything about for plant life in link...
OTT-LITE Technology: Product Detail

Anyone know about using these for growing?

I'd like to use them for seedlings.

I have two 400watt MH/HSP
these ott lites were just giving to me out of the blue
I think they are worthless, but I was looking to put em
to some kind of use.
They will workout just fine for my lil seedlings before
the 24/7 MH party starts.

Did you refuse his info because of his user name or were you just being rude?...:?

Protecive shield for a 17-20watt tube? Hardly. I use these to root clones. Nothing works faster IMO, and they make nice healthy babies. Beyond that and they are just like every other low intensity fluorescent, which is to say they are not the right tool for the job of flowering.

I am in week 12 of veg useing two 17 W ott lights. For any grower looking to yeild and spend less then 50 bones in total germination-harvest!!!!! So far has been amazing. Dont have anything to compar it too but seems to work fine. I am thinking of adding two more ott lights or getting some other source....any tips i am in a closet so i can do pretty much anything just dont want to spend ton money.

Well, old thread, but might as well as say so:
I've got 2 Ott lites of 20W each, and both work great. They really make just about no heat and work wonders on ze plants.

My wife uses those for scrapbooking.......I wouldn't grow with one, but thats just me.

I believe they are a full spectrum light, so colors look the way they are suppose without any color distortion that a yellowish or blueish light may give you.

We're talking about the Ott-lite made specifically for growing, not any old OTT bulb.

And I'm saying that it works, because for the past 3 weeks, my plants haven't died yet. I'd guess that'd be a good pointer towards it being at least somewhat effective.
