OTHER cheap FLOOD TRAYS??? Ebb and Flow???

was thinking of using large bus boy bins. they're like $5. any other ideas?

willing to spend more for a 4x4 or something similar. just don't want to spend several hundred for one.

Concrete Mixing tray available at your local DIY store. have not checked measurements on this yet.

also heard about under appliance trays that are 30x30... that's nice...

The concrete mixing trays are nice they come in 2 sizes if you can find them, i think the appliance trays have shallow sides.

I'm gonna bump this shit cause $50-$100 for a decent sized flood tray is ridiculous...Been checking out walmart, they have Under-the-bed totes that are shallow, and some are as big as 40" x 20", around 20 bucks a pop though...Found a Sterilite brand 41qt under the bed tote that measures like 32" x 14" or 16", and it's like 5" deep...Only $8.99, but it doesn't have an ideal placement for the bulkheads...So far, the 20 dollar watmart tote is willing, but then does it become worth it to build 2 side by side to end up with a 40" x 40" footprint when it'll cost $50 after you buy 2 totes and 4 bulkheads...

you can get a large tray for mixing cement at home depot or lowes or whatever...

wasserstrom.com has a selection of busboxs that make nice little hydro trays.

and underbed storage totes are great too!

Lowes has a new cement tray, its much bigger and theres no slope on the bottom.

I got a 14"x 48" tray from my local grow store for around 30 bucks I loved that size

That might just be the one...I haven't seen these ones yet, headed out to Lowes to see what they look like in person in a few minutes...thanks for the heads up, if they're in stock I'll post the finished product later.

Just got back from LOWES, gotta say the cement tub is perfect! It's 3' x 2', flat bottom, gonna work out nicely. Gotta go entertain my girlfriend for a while now, but pics of the setup later when I put it together

Just got home and slapped it together...Still need to cut the riser, cut some filters to prevent the tubes from clogging, add some wood underneath to prevent bowing from repeated flooding, add air pump and airstones, and maybe get a bigger reservoir...the 18 gallon tote there will be the auto top-off freshwater reservoir, since I bought a float valve today too...Everything, including the pump, was about 60 bucks...And thats COMPLETE! Tray, PVC stand,water pump, tubing, bulkheads...I estimate about 10-15 bucks for the air pump and airstone, but these are all things I would have needed anyway if I had bought a $75 ebb n flow tray...

Definately a good deal, now I just gotta decide on a medium, get some pots, and I'm good to grow! Currently growing in RDWC in 5 gallon buckets.

I use cement trays for safety, though they are vg choices for F & D, HOWEVER, I use 33G+ Rubbermaid totes for my trays. The high walls have awesome benefits. You might want to check out my journal...

Bro, I just read through your journal about 10 minutes before you posted this...lol...Looks good, but for what I'm doing (SOG) I need the larger footprint of the mason tub...I mean it's 3 feet by 2 feet, so using small pots I should be able to fit alot more than if I were using taller totes...Not to mention my plants aren't gonna finish that tall, so the high sides don't do it for me...

I currently grow in RDWC, in 5 gallon buckets with a control bucket. I'm used to growing big plants that way, and it's super easy to set up. I was considering doing a SOG DWC side by side with the flood n drain, to compare growth, but my primary goal at the moment is to get some mothers started and clean up the clone nursery, because I'm gonna need a LOT of cuttings...lol
