Organic soil water only

hey dude just curious to know if that is the same top dress recipe you use for veg and flower? Different ratios? Also do you offset the acidity that comes with malted barley seed?

So It's hard for me to think on terms of veg and flower. My veg time is literally 10-14 days. I usually top dress once per cycle. Before flower. After that it's only green matter(leaves of cannibus or cover crop chopped and spread.

As far as ph. I'll be honest. I rarely ever give a second thought. I did check it last night randomly cause the wife And I were disputing that ph regulates itself on the mixrobial level. So I dropped the meter in and sitting st 6.3 ish. Now when I go a few More week and into flower my hypothesis is the ph will drop naturally to hang around 6.

So to answere I've never thought twice about mbp changing ph.
If I ever ran into any real problem then the first step would be bacteria dominant tea to bring ph up

The available of microbe food gives the steering wheel to the plant. Exudites are secreting and attract certain strains of bacteria which in turn fixate the elements needed at that particular stage of growth.

Also something about soil ph. It changes on a 24h period pretty dramatically. Even more when hand watering practices are used.

I own a grow store. I'm always so surprised and actually thought about the psychology behind the ph fanatics, were this train of throught Came from, and why people are so caught up on it.

imo ph should be thought about during soil build. By using proper ratios of buffers. I think our stoner minds get excited about the idea of doing something for the plant. And messing with ph is an easy way to give cultivators that daily feeling of "helping".

I was just thinking If seeing a ph drop after barley it's probable due to fungal / bacteria ratio. Fungal dominat has lower ph and faster breakdown of organic matter. So by feeding the fungal network your soil probable is Fungi dom which def lower ph. Try a real simple compost tea.
3 ingredients for bacterial tea. Compost, molasses and lots of air! 36 hours brew or so

Hey dude, I really appreciate you getting back to me. You know I think it was the gro-kashi with the MBS. I did a ph test and it was well below 6. I was having problems with a plant and figured it was pH however I believe the soil was not draining well.

I ask that because I’m growing with LED’s which apparently need more calcium than usual (at least that is what people are thinking). I’m afraid of top dressing with Crab Meal and making it too basic. I’m using Coot’s soil recipe and it’s working excellent even in a pot that is root bound. I haven’t had any calcium problems... yet but just trying to be proactive and think of future problems. I just flipped my plant so we’ll see what happens.

I look at calcium like a macro. And I think lots of different sources is what's key.
Oyster, crab, gypsum and ewc...
the only time I had calcium issues ( under led) was when I was using ro filtered water. Most good water sources have good mineral content. ( if your lucky)

However adding crab as top dress I suspect won't be adding much Ca this round. Nor would I think would adjust ph to drastically.

I would steer towards fresh castings. Most castings have water soluable Ca. Which is rare in organics. Think layer on top of whatever top dress you choose.

Quick update. About 21 days in.
Finally got my blumat set up with the 15g no till.

Also toped with greens from cleaning up lowers as we'll a small bigger cover crop plants I gave to the chop too.

I plan on re sowing another round of livings mulxh in aboit 1-2 weeks.

Another update. Blu mat are finally dialed in. I like 5 per 15 g pot. Was going to go for six but ran out of carrots.

Greens are breaking down nicely from defoliation just 2 weeks ago.

youll get it Kind sir, If theres on e key factor its stop looking at the plant, and look at the soil. What kind of life can you notice? how does it smell? any crawlers( bene or otherwise). any mycelium flushes visible?

And ill keep em coming:) its always exciting watching new genetics.
Also its funny cause this is the smallest my garden has ever been. lol literally just doing 12 at a time right now, but looking at this project as my test kitchen for hopefully some bigger things coming....stay tuned lol
 
Just wanted to check my hypothesis. At almost 5 weeks in ph is 5.9-6.1. My cheap soil meter is not the most accurate. I'll post some update pictures in the next day or two. Started mosquito dunks for fungus gnats. Just sitting in water res. There not horrible. But enough to make me cringe.

Don't trust any cheap pH probe. They're not accurate at all.
