Didn't think I'd harvest today, but caught some bud rot at feed this AM and had a few hours to spend...
Lost very little, so maybe coulda waited a bit more, but generally happy with the outcome - will always wonder how much more weight would have been, but plenty of flower for us, and they hopefully got far enough for full flavor. Cheers to yours!

I harvested last year with a rainy fall on Halloween, did you have them covered?

I did too. I have a pretty effective cover, and generally would have waited, but my grow nook gets pretty swampy even with the higher than average temps here in Portland. Good, intense sun helped this last couple weeks, but I have been working on quicker finish strains because all the surrounding vegetation in my u-shaped spot just tees up rot with the wetter nights.

Have done in the past, but likely would not have been free to get to these until the weekend after next, so I was dreading a decline (with evidence already of some rot). I know I'm early, and may not be the 'right' call, and that's why I shared - because there are bound to be others starting to wonder. Honestly, I don't grow for weight, more for flavor (with the weaker half going to RSO), and these being typically ~25-30% indica hybrids, I can afford to be cautious maybe more than some.

First year I did a outdoor grow I had to harvest unexpectedly because my popup collapsed under a heavy rain. I hung it up hoping for the best. Turns out it wasn't to bad, little quicker speedy high but still a good smoke. Next year I built my hoop, year after I rebuilt it again making it stronger and taller for better airflow. This spring I'm going to add screen to the lower 3 feet for better airflow as well as screen on the sides. Hoping that I can eliminate the need for BT.

I'd need to go full hoop and close the ends with air help to do much better - and to complicate it, my goal is always to use less in general - I start with composted soil, do dose with a tea throughout (either local or Roots Organics Buddha Grow & Bloom), but only use peppermint oil (or Plant Therapy by Lost Coast if extreme) through Veg, and really try to not dose anything in flower, so something simple as PM throws off my plan - this year I had a thrip invasion that I manually washed off in flower that worked but bent some legs up. My hoop/indoor of any kind experiences sucked - pests, ph, humidity, etc.

Finally got around to taking a few pics- the plant is really fading, I'm thinking ~10 days until I harvest

If I could have predicted this weather, I would have grown photos instead of autos! lol An amazing year for finishing in October.
I have no regrets really, I grew as much as I need in this summer's outdoor and it's coming up on 60 days of curing (most finished the first week in August) so we're starting to put them into the smoking rotation. You just never know what the weather is going to give you, it's as though this summer was pushed out by a few weeks -- started with a cold wet June and ended with a warm dry October. It's always a roll of the dice.

Still hung for dry as major brach w/ rough wet trim - usually two weeks, but with the heat of week one, may need to bag them to slow the process before trim next weekend. Then the mason jars for burping until December. First smoke then... ritual

No regrets on the early pull. Two plants, no loss to rot, didn't have to stress at the end. Always see a couple caterpillar web drops when hung for 2 weeks, but nothing in trim... even broke protocol and had a fresh taste. Now to burping jars for a month or so for the smoke and will otherwise process the sack of close trim (~qp) sooner. We're set! Hope you are too. Cheers!

I've been smoking a bud I cut off a week ago to look at the trichomes and it's pretty good, although a bit raw

I ended up with 10 quart jars of bud from my lone 9# Hammer plant- it's completely mold/mildew and pest free
