Hey everyone,
I did some research and got some advice and here is what i came up with for strains.
I have limited height, so most of these strains are low/medium growing.

Heres the list:
- DNA L.A. Confidiantial feminized - 2 for $ 30
- Dutch Passion MAZAR feminized - pack of 5 $80
- Lowlife Eazy Ryder - 1 for $18
- Dutch Passion Blueberry - 1 for $18
+
Free UFO seeds with purchase
- DNA la woman seed - free
- DNA sour cream seed - free

Really? damn i was hoping it would be on the lesser side of smell. I have only have 2-3 feet to work with for the plants so im only going to Veg them for 2 weeks to make them shorter.

"I have only have 2-3 feet to work with for the plants so im only going to Veg them for 2 weeks to make them shorter. "

Jpd the short veg cycle to restrict height will work with very few strains, most will continue to veg in 12/12 until they are sexually mature. That time varies but if you don't know the sexually mature age for your strain then 5 weeks is a good guess.

If you have trouble with height on your first grow of a strain from seed you can do a horizontal grow like a scrog or ccob - then only the branches stick up. Second grow you can run clones at whatever height you want - you just have to determine your stretch.

Scrog and ccob open up the types of strains you can grow. I harvested a couple of Super Strawberry Diesel last month that was grown ccob, had ~6' 8" of stem for each plant, and the maximum height over the rim of the bucket was just under 6".

.

The only strain you've picked that I've grown is Dutch Passion Blueberry. I got a poor producing and weak potency pheno that hermied.

Dutch Passion did a study and found that 70% of plants from feminized seeds produced plants very similar to the parent. I don't have the numbers for regular seeds but DP said that if was much lower. So, you have a much better chance of getting a plant like the great pheno parent with a fem seed than that same pheno from parents for regular seeds.

Feminized are slightly less sexually stable than regular seeds but from casual observation the major seed banks are getting much better at producing stable seeds.

Good luck!

damn sounds like a good time to me! I still wish to this day someone had punched me in the head when I was ordering from nirvana. The seeds got here, I have 100% germination and all my feminized plants look AWESOME (see grow journal). But I wish I could be growing DP blueberry right now....

So hobbes,
by ccob you mean crop cirlce of bud, Do you do this by moving angles of the light, im little confused?

thannks

Grew Mazar from some free seeds I got. It was very short and very bushy. I grew it in a bubble hydroponic system under just 150w hps. Like Mr. Therapy Man says, its smelly.

CCOB = Crop Cirlce Of Bud

Bending the stem around the rim of the bucket, so only the branches stick up and every branch is a cola.

This style of growing is like an inefficient Screen Of Green - I trade off some efficiency and yield in exchange for portability and easy of growth.

I veg normally (vertical), and bend the stems when I put the plants into flower. I've found the easiest method is to top once and veg to ~24" for each stem, transplant the root ball on an angle towards the bucket rim, and cross the stems so they go around the bucket with their natural curvature.

Here's a couple of pictures, and a thread with lots of pics and some discussion.

.

Here's a Bubblegum from vertical to CCOB.

.

I didn't cross the stem at the bottom on this one and it took nearly a week to train it properly. I did another Bubblegum last week and crossed the stems - it trained in under 15 minutes.

.

Just finished training the stem.

.

The tallest cola is 12", most are 6"-8". 34 colas. This picture is two weeks old, I'll post some updated pictures this weekend, the colas are starting to fill out. It's spooky, if this bubblegum swells like my vertically grown plants did the colas are going to crowd each other, mostly touching. It'll be almost a half a cubic foot of colas.

Thanks a ton Hobbes,
Makes a lot more since now,
To train them like that do you wrap them around an oval shape near the ending of Veging?
I would think you would have to be really carefull of not stretching or hurting the stem at all.

I tried that (a few pictures in the thread I linked) but the strict bending crinkled the stems and the plants died. It's best to bend the stem using twist ties anchored to holes drilled in the rim of the bucket, the stem will bend according to it's node angles and stem strength not forced to a uniform curve.

As well, when you bend the stem horizontal the stem growth will stop and the energy normally put into growing the stem will be split almost evenly amongst the branches, and the stems' colas. You need to veg to the stem length you need before switching to flower. A 5 gallon bucket with a 12" diameter has a 38" circumference, you need a couple of inches of stem to cross at the bottom, so 42" minimum - you'll get a bit of stretch for the colas. If you grow a 36" single colas it takes a week to bend the stem, if you top and grow two 21" stems they're fairly supple and can be bent easily if crossed.

"I would think you would have to be really carefull of not stretching or hurting the stem at all."

Over bending is what hurts the stem. It takes some time to learn how far you can bend a stem (strains are different) and some stems will be broken or creased at first. The other training error I still do is tightening the twist ties twice in a day, it almost always results in a crease. The creases and breaks can be fixed but it costs time.

CCOB is best practiced with clones that you can afford to throw away.
