Opinions on Watering ?

How much water would you all give a plant in a 10 gallon pot ?

...until about 2-5% comes out the drain holes.

I have a white Russian in a 10 gal smart pot. It's about 6' and I give it 4-5 gal a day. She's in the sun all day

right on...i give my 10 gallon pots about 6 gallons of water when i feed them...so 6 gallons out of my watering can mixed with nutrients...and every other time is just well water from the hose untill i feel satisfied

Not sure there is a definitive answer for that question? Too many factors come into play. As already written, hot weather is one. The medium you are growing in, would be another. The plant's stage in life would be yet another. I am growing in a mix of FFOF, FFHF and vermiculite. So it drains well, yet holds moisture decently. I have been giving my 5 1/2 footer, in a 10 gal pot, 1 gallon pretty much every other day (I check for dryness/moisture first). But I noticed it is needing a bit more since the flowering cycle started. Even though the weather has been mild.

Since it opinion I will throw in my two cents.......I grow mostly in 5 or 7 gallon containers depending how big I will let a cycle get and it is at my age the biggest I can pick up and move around. My soil mixture hasn't changed much in years so I only have to do this when I change my mixture to know how much water my soil will hold.
I like to water from the bottom mostly and allow the water to be sucked up by the soil. In my situation my mixture holds about 5 quarts of water when allowed to be soaked up. I place the container in my tub and add water to the soil and then allow the soil to soak up the run off. If it doesn't soak that up I know I am watering too close together. Time consuming and not for everyone but sure works good for me.
