So ive always just taken clones and had alot of success. I am curious why should I use a mother plant vs cloning my clones? What are the advantages? And if I decide to keep a mother, in soil what would anyone recommend for nutes and can I keep her under 24/0 as that is all I have available and thats how I veg. How much light does she need up close if i want to slow down her growth? Basically just looking for suggestions on why and how to use a mother plant. Thanks

The best way to having a perpetual Harvest you will need a constant supply of clones in that case you would want a mom. It all depends what your plans are its nice to keep a mother plant on stoc a few for that matter of diffrent variety or you can do one of you favorite. You can clone a clone many times over. To keep a mother plant you can do 24/0 but studies are showing plants benafit from a rest period of darkness. I would do 18/6 and if hight is a issue choose a stout indica or fim her. hope this helps.

If you want to keep a certain strain/pheno around but want to grow other strains/phenos, then a mother plant would be perfect.

I've never kept a mother plant, but plan to soon. To my understanding, you just keep the plant (mother) in veg, just keep her healthy.

Right on, Thanks for the thoughts, im in one of those places where im limited on my count, so before i dedicate one of my plants to strictly a mother I want to make sure its worth it. Im in the midst of a perpetual, im set up to be able to pull a plant a week basically. We'll see. Thanks again

Timing is the big benefit of keeping a mother plant for clones. You have to have a seperate set-up to maintain
a mother plant and that means you can have a clonable mother at any time. If you are just cloning from clones
you run into the problem of needing clones but your grow room is flowering, not the best time to take clones.
Keeping a second room going is a pain but it allows me the flexibility to start a new clone group at any time.
The rooting clones sit in the same room as the mother and you can adjust their height via timing their introduction
into the flowering room.
