Opening the grow room's door to reduce temperature

Hey guys!

First of all, I want to say that after monthes of reading here I can finally sign up for a profile and talk about my own girls!! Hope it's gonna be as good as I dreamed :)

So: I have (like many others) a pretty high temperature in my grow room. A small fan which I installed yesterday seems to help a bit, and it's also important to say that the girls themselves do not show signs of heat stress, but I understood that high temp can also result in buds which are not as dense as they could have been. Also, I'm worried about the future because days are getting hotter.
Anyways, my question is this: what if I keep the grow room door open, knowing that in my specific case it will help ventilation a lot and will reduce temp? The door is pretty close to the light (400w HPS) and I want to know if the light I lose from opening the doors is not worth the original cause of reducing the temperature.
Any thoughts?

A few details: I'm in the 6th week of flowering, I have 2 girls in a 1.5x1.5x1.5 meter aluminum foil lined area. The strains are unknown. The thermometer shows 35-40 Celsius but I'm not sure it's accurate. The new one is on the way :)

Thanks a lot!!

Pretty new to growing myself but have some knowledge here. Best bet would be to check temps at canopy level & make sure nothing over 90F would be best. If so I find that running my window ac unit & opening the grow room door can help A LOT but if you choose to run ac I think you should watch you humidity levels cause I think an ac unit would mess with it a bit, Not sure though as im still new myself. An exhaust is also more important then a intake, Intake will flow passivly if good enough exhaust is present

Thanks. I do have an exhaust. 240 cubic meters per hour. Ac unit is not an option for me.
I also want to know if by opening the door I harm the plant's tolerance to heat. Meaning that by now everything looks ok- but if I open the door for the next week and then I have to close it again (for stealth reasons)- will it be too much for my lovely girls?

Thanx again :)

Personally & this is my opinion only. I think opening the door would do nothing to tolerance. It would just give them sexy girls some needed relax time untill the next time a heat spike happens. Now that is my opinion only & mabey someone will chime in for you. But I think if you opened the door It would do nothing but help the girls out.

leave the door open if that's what you gotta do .... aim a box fan at it.... probably need more exhaust and some kinda intake..... lose the foil....

Yeah missed the foil part. If you have White walls especially. Ive read the white is the most reflective of anything you could be useing. Plus the magnification from the foil isnt helping the heat situation one bit.

mylar would be more reflective ... some people do it some don't.... I don't think its worth the hassle myself.. I like flat white.....

So your using a 240cfm inline fan but your temps are to high with the door closed and you want to open them to keep it cool, right? What size is your intake now with doors closed? Where is the exhaust exhausting the heated air? What is the ambient tempature of the room the grow room is getting its intake air from?

Hight temps over mid 80s makes higher yielding lower quality less tasty buds. Higher yielding cause of the amount of water they suck up but the high temps change the terpines to less quality.

Mylar 2mil or thicker is best reflective material. White doesnt compare. When you put your hand between wall and light on a white and mylar wall the mylar wall looks like a light is shining on hand where a white wall is dull reflection.

First of all thanks for all of your replies.

So, If I take out the aluminum foil I'm left with 60% Finnish pine and 40% grey carton.... It's an attic. Mylar is crazily expensive in my country.
I did leave the door open today, seems good. After all both girls are directly under a 400 bulb... Should be ok.
The thing is I'm going on an 8 day vacation... Debating if the door should be open or close.... I guess I'm gonna leave it open. Better safe than sorry. Cheers dudes.
(I still would love to hear any thoughts regarding the tolerance!!)

peace and love :)
