Open carry in Texas passes

I've been looking at 10mm but it's so new, and I hear a lot of wear and tear problems.
10mm has been around a while. If you plan on reloading, I'd say go for it, otherwise, don't waste your money. And yes, the brass gets worn out quick, so even reloading is a pain and relatively costly.

I do reload. 10mm hasn't been very practical until recently though, a lot of lost fingers.

I'm not really a gun guy, but I am a constitution guy and I have an open question to both sides of the debate;

Why is open carry seen as worse than concealed? I'd rather know that dude in line behind me is packin, just sayin.

If I were a criminal, and I entered a public place to do harm and I see you have a gun, why wouldn't I walk up to you first and open fire to eliminate the visible threat? Yes, it will deter some, but others maybe not. For me, the argument comes from a tactical standpoint. Knowledge is power, knowledge combined with surprise is victory.

Ok, I get that from a tactical standpoint, just not a legal one. What if you saw 30 guns? wouldn't you turn around and go somewhere else?

Anecdotal, but sort of proves a point, I was shooting pool in a hick bar in GA with guys I rode bikes with. One of the guys was flirting with a buddies wife and I jokingly said "better not do that, he carries a gun", the guy laughed and pulled his out and asked which was bigger, which let to everyone pulling theirs out and an hour long gun show broke out. Out of about 20 people there, I was the only one not carrying. I knew them and trusted them, but imagine if you were gun hater, wouldn't you rather know? That's what I don't get is it's the gun haters that seem to fight against open carry.

Yes, I probably would. Guns are also expensive, so if I see you walking with one holstered on your hip, I can get behind you and just crack you with a bat and take it. Legally, I think it scares people because guns are viewed by some as a means to murder rather than the tools for self defense and recreation that they are. The real problem is our stance on mental illness. There are few if any ways for someone suffering from psychological disorders to receive help, and that's where I think a lot of our "Gun violence" problems originate. Couple mental health with a increasingly economically depressed populace, and you're going to have issues.

Oh, my P-01 is 9mm, the CZ-82 is 9x18 Makarov. I don't care for the recoil characteristics of the .40 S&W.

I'm a big fan of CZ firearms, you don't see too many people carrying them so I thought it was cool that you're carrying pretty much the same gun as me.
love my P-01
Paid $297 for it brand new a few years back. One of my most accurate pistols out of the many I own. Angus Hobdell himself did the trigger work for me.

Not my carry gun though. Use a S&W 420 J frame in .38 sp for that.

What kind of holster?

Thats more or less where your mass murders by firearm come from, but statistically mass murders by firearms are very very rare in light of the big picture.
Yea, but most people who kill someone outside of self defense have some kind of problem. Whether it be anger or a skewed view of right and wrong, stuff that most of us can deal with and not shoot anybody. They need help, and there's not much for them.

People can lose their minds when they get all worked up, just look at UB.

Anyone who kills anyone most likely has a problem of some kind, usually knowing that you just killed someone is one of them.

I hope I live long enough to see a change in philosophy on how we handle the floor shitters in this world. It's like the war on drugs. Some meth head steals so we load up prisons with non-violent victimless "criminals" even though stealing is already a crime. If we approached drug problems with a medical mind instead of a legal mind we would surely change tactics. Same with mass murderers and gun issues.

People don't get scared of a gun they can't see.
