Online Head Shop Advice

Hey guys,

I'm new to the community and I was hoping to get some objective criticism for my small business. I run an online head shop called SketchyJoe.com. I've been running it for a year but I don't have very much money to put into it having been unemployed since I graduated last May.

I'm always trying to expand the inventory and smooth over the site, but lately it's been very difficult. I can get a good amount of traffic, but it seems like most of the people I've been able to reach are more interested in cheaper imported glass.

I'm having trouble reaching out to online communities, largely because I'm afraid of being hated on since people are subjected to so much spam.

If anybody has any advice or any criticisms for my site, inventory, prices, etc I'd really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks!

You should do give-aways- TO ME! No, seriously, go on youtube and hold contests on your new channel that gives reviews ( on your select inventory). your welcome and I'll take an oil rig for the advice:eyesmoke:

Haha thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought of using youtube to get the word out and make reviews. I've done some giveaways in the past but I didn't get much out of them. It's still tempting though as it would give me a legitimate excuse to steal a new bong/vaporizer from myself. I actually don't have any oil rigs, but I'm hoping to start getting into that area soon so that's another thing I should focus on.

edit: Thanks! I love my logo. I actually forget who I hired, but it was a website that did it for me as a logo/business card package. The only instructions they had to go on were "An Iguana wearing a top hat and a monocle. I don't want him to look sketchy despite the business name, but also don't want him to look friendly." After a couple mock ups I think they nailed it.

I recommend you introduce yourself by pm (private message) to Potroast, our most visible admin. This site is fairly strict about buying, selling or trading anything, but I've noticed a soft spot for glass vendors. In any case, asking admin "is this ok?" should get you on their "right side" and perhaps get you a berth in our glass section. I'm out of my section here, but am hoping that my advice is sound. cn

Thanks for letting me know. I just read the sticky in the glass section and it looks like they'd rather I sponsor the site, which is totally reasonable. I won't spam any further and I'll look into advertising officially once I have extra money for it.

Don't toss in the towel without talking to an admin, is my suggestion. cn

CN, I got to thinking and I feel like I should wait until I have a bit more to offer because at this point I'd just be bumming. Even if it wouldn't cost anything I'd like to feel like I could pay if I had to. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though, I will surely follow up on that once I'm ready.

I have a question Sketchy Joe.

I'm assuming you're US based, so if not this question is probably useless but, how do you get around paraphernalia laws shipping around the US?
