one simple observation that reveals alot to me...

very simply put :

i know a lot of growers using cheap 10-10-10 20 - 20 - 20 dry fertilizer , or a similar all purpose dry fertilizer from start to finish , not worrying about PH or exact measurements on anything at all , and doing it with a couple 21 watt CFL bulbs and getting plants that are beautiful and never have all of the issues that we are warned about having by using cheap / un balanced nutrients and soil.

what about all the people who use the high-end high-price nutrients + exact measurements and exaust fans with professional grow lights whos plants turn out looking damn near the same as the people who dont use any of that.

its almost as if it really does not make a diference weather you spend 40 or 140 $ per plant as long as you know what your doing.

it looks to me like a whole bunch of people trying to treat weed plants like they are sick children who are in the hospital or something and..... at the end of the day , if a shits and giggles grower ( like me ) can observe enough grows to see that the difference made by all of these expensive things you can doo with your weed plants is so small that you need to try and look for it too even notice it , then why in the fuck are people still paying an extra ton of money for a little bit of ( possible ) gains that might not even be noticable

To a extent your spot on someone with experience can out preform a noob with (insert top of the line shit here) with (insert lesser quality here) but a side by side someone with experience a 600w or a 1000w hps vs cfl no comparison that's why it's better to start less advanced get a few grows under your belt and work you way up

I agree, lighting is key. You could pretty much just drop a seed in some soil and with great lights get a great plant ~ vs ~ tons of scientifically measured nuts with super sized pots and c02 etc but with crappy lighting your results will be less then par.

There is more to it then lighting I mean the difference is maximum yeilds quality smell taste ect. Co2 is only effective after you have reached the plants maximum light saturation but if you want to break it down it to its most simple form a cannabis plant that gets light and water will grow . Quality and yeilds aside it will grow

( sorry forgot power of lights IS a dig deal with growing i should have noted that before hand ) , however if i had to put a few things that IMO and this is just IMO have the least possible impact on plant growth and it kinda makes me laugh when i see it is , " proper exaust " ports...LMAO when your growing 2 or 3 little indoor plants and your putting dual fan exhaust ports and placing CO2 producing things in the grow box your making yourself look ignorant. never will you need an electrical fan whatsoever to give 1-4 plants enough air. like really dude lmao! if you have even a single cfl the heat from it will create air movement and the small cracks in your grow box will pull in more than enough fresh air from your room to keep a few plants healthy for Christ sake!

Well said well said... I have about 3 to 5 small to medium size plants at any given point and have never used Co2 or setup exhaust ports. I simply opened a flap on top and one on bottom and let it take care of itself. Again a touch back to the "keep it simple"
I can imagine some people putting so much gear into a small grow tent to get "maximum" results only to end up with a tiny usable grow space.

I just mix my soil up, use some worm castings and water as needed. I just believe in the Keep It Simple method
Me too (:
And instead of 42 watts of cfl I use 600-1000 hps and the difference in buds is massive! o_O

Hey yall...All the light you can afford...the 'best' nutes you can afford...the best ventilation, the best medium, the best seed, on and on...all these things are well and good.

BUT, the one thing no one can do without is KNOWLEDGE. Without it you can spend all the cash you want and grow rag weed. Or, you can use a cardboard box and a couple of cfls and grow some good medicine.

Personally, I have and always will K.I.S.S. I wasted 2 days on RIU recently arguing with another member about why I choose not too use a ppm meter. I don't need any of the BLING toys and gadgets, no need for Co2 for my 2 gurlz, don't need to know what my ppm, ec, or ph run off is and don't care.

I simply put a viable seed of good genetics into the best soil I can afford with the nutes I choose, add my 400w HID, water when needed and Let Mother Ganja do the rest.:peace::peace::peace:

I once bought a PH meter, never used it. The only goodies I buy are lights, soil and worm castings or some guano. Do I have super massive buds, eh maybe not. Do I have mega massive yields, not really. But I have gotten tons of compliments on how good my buds taste, and to me, that's what I like to hear.

Maybe one day when I have more room for more plants I'll look into those fancy tech gadgets, but I'll never let go of the fundamentals

There is more reasons then fresh air for a fan..it keeps mold spores from taking hold on your leaves, stagnant air and mold spores are not a good thing. It helps keep your humidity in check and its good for the strength of the plants.

Well, I do consider a ph meter to be very useful. But I only use it because my tap water here runs in the 7.4-7.9 range and I use ph down to balance to 6.4-6.8

That's why I never seal up my tent... ever.

I bought it when I was playing with DWC, but ended up not being home enough to properly maintain it. So I went back to the simplicity of soil grows. Thankfully my tap water here seems to be just right, goes from faucet to my glass measuring cup to the pot.

Leaving your tent unsealed wont strengthen your plants, just saying a simple small fan on ypur plant has more benefits than downsides.
I wasn't implying I do it for strength, I got a small fan for that. I was more in reference to the having fresh air in the tent.

I agree too much is spent on things like nutrients, while environment is lacking that doesnt make sense to me.Nutrients in the raw form are cheap. In organics Ph and Ppms might not be nessesary. But in other forms of growing or depending on your water supply, they could be essential.

no, no you don't

i very much disagree with this
exaust fans with professional grow lights
what's a "professional grow light"? something strong enough to make actual buds?
its almost as if it really does not make a diference weather you spend 40 or 140 $ per plant
if you're spending 140 per plant you're doing it wrong.
a whole bunch of people trying to treat weed plants like they are sick children who are in the hospital or something
first thing i actually agree with. these people quit the hobby after a few tries.
awwh i see a butthurt , must not be if theirs actual discussion going on. lols
i couldn't get past the grammar so i stopped reading actually
