One or Two Time top dressing, Nute Advice, Please

Hey. I grow outside in ground, I've fiddled with all kinds of nutes, did almost the entire advanced line one year, also did just miracle grow one year, but so far best results are with Nutri+ time release. Well best results for what I want anyways, it's similar to AN Heavy Harvest, but only 2 different compositions, not 3 (no spring). Anyways, I plan to use this again, but am looking for a top dressing for veg, and a top dressing for flower. I start moms inside, early, then take cuttings like beginning of May, then let everything get big enough that chipmunks and slugs won't eat them overnight, then they go in the ground (end May/beginning June) But they are in desolate locations, and I can't get to them often, that's why the time release, but am just looking for a top dressing for the remainder of veg they have once they're in the ground, and a top dressing for once they start to flower. Like just something to make sure they have no major deficiencies, as I won't be getting to them to often, and advice? Also, should I throw some kind of Big Bud, or something like that in there? The problem is if I do add something like that that's water soluble, I have a long way to haul an awful lot of water, which is what I'm trying to stay away from. Thanks

Any top top dress fertilizer is going to be dry and require water to feed your plants. As long as you don't live in an arid place the rain should take care of that. Adding a basic dry fertilizer with a somewhat even nutrient ratio (say 5,5,5) into your soil when you plant in june should get you to the flowering stage. Then top dress with a flowering fertilizer in mid july and another mid august.

Fertilizers i like:

Veg - espoma products work and there are many similar products out there. I have used their tomato tone, garden tone and cottonseed meal.

Flower - High P guanos and fish emulsions. I like Budswel (both dry and liquid) although it's pricey.

It's all personal preference and may take years of trial and error to find a routine that works for you.

Bob, thanks for reply. I actually will be using nutri+ time release veg, and flower as they did well for me last year. But on top of that, wanted to add a broad spectrum top dress during both veg and flower, if there is such thing as a broad spectrum top dress. And also wondering if I should throw a bud stimulator/enhancer in there, on top of it all. And yes, I have enough rain to water everything in, or always have in the past anyways. Just looking for a top dress for a little extra kick. So cottonseed meal, 1 application, veg? And bat guanno, high phos., 1 application, flower? How much of each would you use per plant? And how far into flower would you add the bat crap top dress? The Budswel dry, is it a concentrated fert.,? Thanks alot

I have good results with Rainbow Grow & Rainbow Bloom, dry organic fertilizer

i personally top dress early flower with a mixture of bone meal and bat guano, and just straight bat guano in late flower. i have powdered bat guano 0-27-1 that i mix about 2ml per litre of soil and re-apply every 2-3 weeks. most guanos will come with some kind of application instructions

Yeah they come with instructions. Top dressing with a high N fert like cottonseed when you plant late in the spring closer to the switch might not be a good idea and i believe your nutri will cover the veg till you start flowering. I know from experience from when i lived up north planting in june. Stretches em out IMO. Dont know much about the product youre using but if i were you i would supplement your feeding program with some guano then cut the nutri closer to harvest letting the girls ride it out with the guano. The dry guano goes a long way(couple of tablespoons per plant).

Id add a bunch of earth worm castings and guano. Vary the type of guano depending on veg/flower. The worm castings will keep your plant looking green and healthy til its time for it to come down.

pile up a pile of composted chicken shit amongst the plants. even circle the pile with plants. or a couple of camo grow bags, with compost, set among the plants.
