I only looked at a few messages so maybe this has been mentioned but if you go by an average grow-lighting chart that shows each wattage light’s footprint you will see a 150-watt has a footprint that is 2’ X 2’ totaling 4 sq. sf. of light coverage. A 600-watt light has a footprint of 6’ X 6’ totaling 36 sq. ft.
　
Just going by equal footprint size it would take nine 150-watt lights to equal the footprint size of one 600-watt HID light.
　
When it comes to lighting some things do not add up and others do not divide equally.

Thanks I was waiting for someone to look that up (im lazy sometimes). If thats right then the 600w is far superior. I run a 600w myself and have never tried anything smaller so I am not sure if there is more info one would need to know. My only thought is that the heat issue could still make up the difference because you could get three point sources right up to the buds versus one point source at a moderate distance and lose a lot of light intensity at the perimeter. If he grows in a long, narrow space, then the three lights could still be better.

what would you say the max no. of plants you could bring to harvest under a 600w
where you can at least yeild a 1/2oz to an OZ per plant

I have no trouble averaging 3 1/2 ounces from each of 4 plants in 16 litre pots under 1 600W.
Thats not SOG, but I like to veg until they're 2 feet tall and LST'd.
I also had 3 400W's in the same room, but the 600W yeilds were much better, so I just bought another 3 600's to make 4 in my 6.5x6.5x6.5 myler tent.

Lumins do not add up, meaning 4 x 150's may cover a similar area, but the penetration isn't anywhere near as good.

Go with the 600, you wont regret it. bongsmilie
