Old man with a question...

hi guys. i'm old. i was in college in hawaii in 1976. my roommate pulled out a green bud and said 'guess what i have: Maui Wowie!"

well i took a few puffs, and a few minutes later everything in the room seemed bright and shimmery. it was a very good light feeling too, not like what we called "stoned" in those days.

in those days i heard there was not much tech involved, just try to grow female plants without seeds was the goal !

so here is my question: does that same exact stuff still exist? what would be its name and where to find it?

my concern is all the news i read that today's weed has all been boosted, strengthened, intensified and all that, which honestly i really don't want. if it does not exist any more, what is a substitute? thanks!!

Sure they do, You would need to find a land race pure sativa, That is mostly what was going around in those days I hear, The indica's took over the scene because of the smaller stature and shorter flowering times. Lots of people have never even had a real sativa buzz and some have even freaked out when smoking them for the first time (like me) lol. greenhouse seed co has a few pure sativas in the stable that you can buy, But remember it's going to be a big long legged girl that takes forever to flower :) BB

I found this link below, is this it?

Maui Wowie

or maui waui
If you look on the page you linked, on the left below the picture, above the Red Get Prices, you will see they refer to both spellings. If you read the Description if seems accurate to what you are looking for.

I once smoked it about 40 years ago. A super skinny pinner shared between 3 heavy users and we were zoned. My cousin had to pull off the road because he was too stoned, and he was usually a fearless daredevil (<=read maniac). It was $25/gram compared to Colombian or Bolivian at $5/gram, but well worth it.

Sounds like a sativa plant like my Durban poison. Try growing a few different strains and see what tickles your fancy lol

now a days with the help of advancements in tech and social media and such like riu the science behind weed has exploded but in all reality I don't think much has really changed..just a plant with some dirt water and light...we just know the science behind it better now

Two strains I smoked in the '70s that seem to have disappeared: kick-ass Oaxacan and Colombian Gold. The Colombian was so strong you had to take "baby hits" because it would (allegedly) "expand" in your lungs and make you cough like a first-time smoker. The Oaxacan was almost strong enough to make me hallucinate, but it was a very energetic high.

I don't believe the hype about how cannabis is supposed to be so much stronger than it was a few decades ago.

I think part of the problem is everyone breed for thc and there is so much more to it. I am only 39 and I miss some of the weed from my teen years. True skunk haven't seen one that was so skunky in years.
