What should I buy .... ? At600? Or 4 xgs190 Area 51. ?? Lighting a 5x5

Both options would kick ass in a 5x5, but I believe that the XGS's would give you better coverage.

i would go with more lights and more watts, assuming efficiency is the same.

a 600 also ways 60 lbs. That's the only thing I don't like about them If you don't have an even canopy either. 4 lights is easier to adjust too. You can get the 4 a51's cheaper than an at600. Performance wise they both kick ass. Tough decision

The AT600 will do a 4x4 great but it may be pushing it trying to cover 5x5.

I have 4 XGS's in a 5x5.

Don't want to do RW's or a mix? I'd do 4 RW's or 2 RW-150s and 2 XGS'.

I would maybe mix. AT-200 and then 2-3 XGS, or Onyx Bloom.

Considering they are always out of stock, At600 seems like an easier buy if you need to start right away. Although, I'm still considering A51's lights assuming that I'll pay more for shipping from China. Anyone know what the shipping charges from A51's china warehouse are?

Its $25 shipping from Michigan and $85 dollars from Hong Kong I do believe that's what a51 told me

It probably depends on how far it's being shipped.

I own an older AT120RB and an older A51 SGS160. My understanding is that both draw very similar actual wattage. I have owned both since they 1st came out and they are used in a dedicated flowering space side by side. Plants under the AT120RB do a little better overall but there is only a small difference. The Apache tech covers a larger area more evenly and without needing to be positioned as far above the canopy. The build quality of the Apache tech is quite a lot nicer than the A51. The build quality of the A51 is very decent. My Apache AT120RB runs pretty warm, the thick alu plate at the bottom is almost too hot to hold on a hot day. I was thinking about replacing the fans with more powerful ones and even adding some more fans directly over the heatsinks inside the chassis. My apache is a fair bit noisier than my A51.

my gut is that 4x A51s will give you better coverage and overall better performance, but not by much. The apache has the advantage of being a single light which will be easier to manage than multiple lights and overall performance would be very close.

There are a few factors that favor one over the other:
if you lack backup lighting .... multiple lights have the advantage that a failure wont leave you in the dark
if you plan to grow trees ... the single apache will have superior penetration for taller plants
If the one tent/room is used from start to finish multiple lights will allow you to ramp up your lighting adding one light at a time saving power

Tough call unless your willing to DIY your own lights. If I were not willing to DIY I would probably do a mix of A51 RW150 and Onyx bloom for a more mixed spectrum.

I just added a DIYed light running 4 cxa3070 AB 3000K along side the A51 and Apache .... at least 20% more growing power and the same power draw ..... less than half the cost

Yea, DIY LED is beyond me right now. I grew for several years with a 600 watt HPS, with some heat issues here and there. Had varying success depending on how well I kept the conditions. After a 3 year hiatus, I would like to try LED's to keep heat and electric costs down.

I'm leaning towards A51, because you can switch between veg and flowering to save wattage. If I have one solid AT600 panel, it's going to be pushing 700+ watts from jump, which might be too intense for smaller plants(?). Plus, the AT600 is so damn expensive, I feel like I'd be getting more bang for my buck with A51's+Onyx.

Could someone explain to me what is the difference between the various A51 models(RW,XGS,SGS)?
