Ok outdoor growers (or people who don't like to trim)

I've always poo-pooed the automatic trimming devices, but a trial run this evening with "The Clean Cut Bowl Leaf Trimmer" (specifically the 19" version for $200 on amazon) and I can say I'm a believer. Mind you, I absolutely HATE trimming (carpel tunnel and a bad back from a life mislead plus not great eyes = trimming is a major pain in several parts of my body ;) )

So, I broke off a test branch as it was already hanging towards the ground (note to self: USE NETTING next year), see attached pic for the branch.

It took me (alone) exactly 23 minutes to cut the buds from the branch (no leaf cutting) and run it through the trimmer to the point where I was quite happy with the results. (pics to follow after drying). Eyeballing it, this is the same size as what used to take me and a helper 30 minutes, the resulting trim was caught in the stainless steel bowl for easy transfer to a freezer bag for future ice hash.

On that note, it does trim a bit more off then I would possibly do myself, but since I'm also processing the trim I have no regrets and will use this for the rest of my harvest. Hell, even if I was giving away the trim I'd still use this as it made my life so much better.

Price is a bit hard to swallow, but I am able to work my harvest myself without having to bring in help. That's worth something to me, especially as a 10 pack of blades is just $60 more (it uses one.) Seems to be well built, and all that. Will update after I process the rest of my harvest (well, the three plants being cut this month)

Just wow. I needed to share with someone so here you go fellow OR med people. Off to celebrate the first cut of the year with a beer.

Be well :)

Here's an example of the smallest bud it trimmed in the lump processing. Note: absolutely no scissoring has been done aside from removing the bud(s) from the branch. Sorry for quality, cheap cell phone and all that.

Got an update after chopping those 3?
Let's hear it! :peace:

Sorry, got side tracked with the drying and the tasting (and the hash oiling!) Yeah, there's NFW I'm going back to scissors. Each plant yielded on avg 5.5 ounces after trim and dry and took me by my lonesome (watching tv) ~90 minutes to do (really, all three did, despite one plant being a 3.5O and one plant pushing 7O, not sure how that works out...). The trim is uniform and the cuttings makes for quite nice hash oil. The main caveat is that the machine doesn't like the big donkey dick style colas but rather prefers them separated to get a decent trim. Mind you they dry more evenly this way so I don't mind. But some people might want to hand trim the biggest colas depending on what they're going for.

Attached is one sample plant run from plant sitting waiting to have the buds stripped to the 1 plant worth of trim in the 19" stainless steel bowl (roughly 2 1 gallon ziplock freezer bags worth).

It's simple to use, doesn't mind not being cleaned EVERY time (I'm planning on cleaning it before I harvest the jack herer at the end of the month), and just flat out works, I'm truly a happy camper. I am even planning to use it for the small indoor plants this winter and I can't give it more of an endorsement than that (I'll post again here if problems arise)

Can you please post a good before and after of a bud or two? I'm probably going to buy one of these trimmers, looking for good reviews with before and afters.

Check out Green Broz. I met the rep at my local bar and got him to come out and clean up a few pounds from a couple friends. I bought one, but they are like 4600 dollars. Cuts your total time of breaking a pound off the stems (1 hour) running it through the machine (15 minutes), cleaning up the crows feet and occasional leaf (1.5 -2 hrs.). Some buds get a little shaved depending on how long you run it and the shape of the buds. Some come out perfect. They have some youtube videos. Worth if for me cause trimmers are already bitching about wages dropping and I can rent it out to my friends. I have yet to do either one though, cause now I can keep up with the trim and other people aren't sold yet. I am mainly anticipating the outdoor. I'll probably do all the breaking down myself, then run it through the machine then have people clean it up. 1 person can clean up 4 or 5 pounds in a day. The quicker that people are out of my house, the better. :)

Sorry for some reason it didn't notify me of the reply. I didn't get a before shot, but once my most recent sexing crop is done drying I'll take a few after shots. (I'll do a proper before and after when I cut down the next girl in ~4 weeks.)

But really, the buds were just hand ripped (slide hand up the stalk taking off buds) then put in the trimmer. 7 turns later (4 one way, 3 the other) I ended up with a pretty acceptable rough trim. (see pics here or in the next post in about 3 days). Don't overload the trimmer and you'll be quite happy with the results, and it's a major time save (especially for the $200, or $260 all in ;) )

I used a trimmer this year…Can't complain..It saved a shitload of time.

stsin: Correct again sir! Don't overload the hopper and I kept it to the medium to smaller buds. I wouldn't want to put my prized donkey dick buds in an auto trimmer. Also..make sure you clip the stem right up the ass of the bud,, the trimmer will get dull way faster if it's ripping stems.

Nom: Not entirely sure this is what you're looking for but here are the pictures (before/loaded/after and a close up of one of the buds) of the sugar plants that turned hermi and needed to be harvested a bit early (which leaves me a month or so behind where I should be on half of my allocated 6 :( ) I've now replaced the three sugar girls with 2 sugar punch (from sannies) and either a third sugar punch, or more likely a cotton candy (from delicious)... I'm annoyed as hell since the sugars for outside were lovingly shaped into the start of wonderful bushes.... Oh well, I get to try sugar punch a year earlier than I planned, so life isn't all bad provided next winter resembles this year :)

Oh, and an additional thought since this is my first use of the trimmer with indoor plants. It took me 7 minutes to process two plants completely including taking pictures. Last time I hand trimmed plants this size I ended up spending ~30minutes each and I'm not sure my trim was any better ;)
