ok here we go!

OK HERE I GO! this is gonna be my first indoor attempt here, this is my first post here on this site. My name is LordK i like candle lit dinners, long walks on the beach and things that go fast well anyways here is what i got going. 27"x46"x54" home built box ill get some pics up after its all presentable. easy cool8, 600w digital, 3 250 cfm fans one for intake one for exhaust and one for the easy cool. im gonna run the intake and exhaust 24/7 and use a speed controller for the easy cool for temp control. 4 5 gallon buckets with 10" net pots to hold my 6x6x6 rock wool with hydroton, i will be doing dwc keep in mind i just looked at a few pics seems easy enough though basic concepts, when it comes down to set up of everything im gonna need some help! anyways i have a 15 gallon resivor. went with the sensi bloom nutes package. sealing off my hole cab with panda. oh yea and i cant forget the chicken wire! so like i said ive never done indoor im definatley gonna need help. i feel i am smart and competent and for some reason everything i touch grows really well, im not gonna be using co2 or anything like that i dont feel i need it, im going over total control of my cab enviornment, gonna need help with that too, i have a pretty good idea though. anyways thanks for any help

Welcome man! Sounds like you've done your research... I tried hydro, but didn't like it, so I went back to soil... so I can be a bit biased about DWC, but thats just because I'm not a fan of constantly monitoring the EC, PH, res temp, cleanin my res and lines every week or so... just to much work for a full time worker and full time stoner to acheive! There and MANY MANY varibles you'll eventually learn with you first grow... after that, it gets much easier as you've gained that experiance and know what to expect and look out for next time. Shit, i'm STILL changing my setup constantly every week! But just a few questions to ask yourself....

How long will you be vegging?

What stain do you plan.. indica/sativa/hybrid?

Are you gonna grow bush style, scrog, lst'd, etc...

Those are just a FEW of the factors that you'll have to determine before starting. You don't wanna veg 4 sativas for 4-5 weeks, then have your girls cramped in there once you get them flowering... Ever happen to you? Happened to me!!! Ha, but I learned!

You said like your on the right path buddy, I've got a few suggestions that could, or could not help, but thats why we're all on here to help ya out! Feel free to ask anything if you can't find it in the search section. Most people on here have knowledge and much much experiance.

But if I could tell any newb one thing... it'd be... IT'S JUST A PLANT! Hell, in nature they grow with out the aid of man! The more you fuck with it, the more stressed it'll get, and will end up hurting you in the long run. Keep it on a schedule (make a journal!!!!) and keep notes so you can referance back for future grows. Watch your cab temps, res temps, start your nutes about 2-3wks AFTER sprout in small doses building up so you don't nute burn. Oh... WATCH YOUR PH! If they get outta wack this will ultimatly cause nute lockout and discolor your leaves or damage your beautiful buds you've worked so hard to establish!

Hope this gave you some encouragement and a look into what to expect... Your gonna make a few begginer's mistakes, we all did, but that hardest part is to not freak out and second guess something and try to diagnose it... just ask, we've all been through it!!!

i have done outdoor in soil 5 years running good luck everytime! i just dont feel in controll where i live the weather is so unpredictable havent had a good summer in a while. shoot a week ago it was 65 and yestraday a foot of snow but we are known for the rain we get here! ive been doing hydro on my aero garden for 6 months i dont think it is all that much work why did you clean your lines so oftan? if you keep them cool you shouldnt get any contaminantes in there. people go whole grows with out cleaning there non resivor system? im gonna grow G13 haze scrog im gonna veg about 8 nodes or 18inch what ever comes first then top them. i actually changes the demensions of my cab to a simple 4x4x6.5 my buckets are 1.5" then im giving a foot for my light at top if cab, leaving leaving me about 3 feet of flower space. im gonna spend a few days dialing in my cab before i run it i want total control of my enviornment. when it comes down to go time ill hit ya up i appriciate the reply! if you have any cab experience i know im gonna need help dialing it in

welcome to a great forum Lordk. i am building my first cab right now as well, but not of your caliber, just stuff i got lying around. but i will be stopping in time to time

wow with the lights you have in there its gonna get hot as hell. hope you have a good method to keep the temps below 80...

the reason I cleaned my drain lines and res was because of salt buildups... even in my flood tray... plus, under the hps, I was a freak about the heat forming algae in the stagnit water on the bottem and my res because I wasn't 100% it was light sealed from the HPS...

But to add on top of it... I was doing a drip system for veg and ebb and flow for flowering... so Im not too sure about DWC, could be different...

But I do know as a fact as many veterian growers will tell and stress that keeping your grow area and components clean at all times is KEY for avoiding pests like spider mites or other harmful bacteria that forms and develops in "unkept" areas that could potentially contaminate or kill your plants.

I had to learn that through a lesson learned in experiance first hand... no matter how you grow, in soil, DWC, Drip, Ebb/Flow, Aero, etc... cleanliness is next to quality... even though you may have not experianced any problems yet... a good preventive maitenance system should always be kept routine to ensure you don't encounter problems.

Even though I'm back to soil, I still pull everything out every week or two and clean my reflectors, trays, cords, mylar, any environment that the plants are in... I also spray them every two weeks with a mixture of warm water, Eistine Oil, and SM-90 as PM from pests... ESPECIALLY SPIDER MITES! Little fuckers are the devil! Happen to you? Happened to me! It's a long battle, but I have the best 100% guarnteed way to rid them, but I'd rather just follow preventive measures to ensure it doesn't!

But yeah man... I did a scrog before.. it's fun if it's done right... just makin sure to keep training under the screen to only exposing the bud sites above so it's an even screen of buds poppin out! Hope you share a journal on it! It's nice to see a good one develop, and the week before harvest, just the sight of it is uphoric!

I laugh a lot when I see ppl do scrogs and they do absolutly NO training what so ever and the plant just grows wildly through the screen... hehe, I chuckle. But everyone's gotta start somewhere, right my friend?

BTW, my res temps were pretty warm and I didn't want to have to go out and spend more money on a chiller... I just said fuck it... got my FFOF back and water every 2-3 days and kick back and blaze... Each their own personal preferance... I hope the both of you rock out the DWC and continue the Aero the past, as I mentioned... hehe, I can be biast about it!

But wish only the best, and offer all the help I can... but please, do take cleaning seriously... it'll help in the long run!

my temps should be ok i have a decent fan cooling my light hell i can always get a bigger fan! plus my room is 104 cubic feet ill have 500 cfm of air exchange im just worried about summer time i know im gonna have to buy an ac unit and a res cooler. illusionz i never even researched anything about spider mights i never had the problem out side so i didnt think about it, where do they come from? my room is gonna be fully sealed and no one but me will ever see it, now you got me scared! my whole res system will be light proof my res is gonna be on top of the cab and all my lines are black and black buckets i experienced the alge problem in my areo garden on my first grow two pods died and i just left nothing in the hole and they light and heat shining in made everything red and stinky so i pulled everything out and cleaned it all. also thanks for the reminder to take everything out and clean it i forget that stuff somethimes i also loose my keys alot but go figure.

Hello my friend v nice set up

haha! I hear ya man... I've 80csqft in my room... I have an 18in oscolating fan and a 375cfm exhaust... keeps my temps between 80-82... a bit higher than I'd like, but I as well am a bit concerned about the summer time... What I plan on doing since I don't have an intake fan because I rely on my negative pressure caused by the exhaust to pull in house temp air of 70 degrees from two ports I put into my grow door... this also helps eliminate the odor seeping out... but if my house temp with the ac on doesn't cut it this year (did last year) I'm just gonna invest in a lil window ac unit and use an intake fan to pull cool air for the ac unit to my grow room... I just upped my lighting by 600w so that is why I'm so concerned... but I'm also replaceing my reflectors with cooltubes, so I'm hopping that'll substanually cut down the temps.

What kinda reflector you going with? with a 500cfm exhaust pulling the air in through a cooltube and out the room on a 600w, you should be in pretty good shape!

As for spider mites man... I never had them up untill 6 months ago in my hydro set up.. They really come from... well, anywhere! I never thought it'd happen to me, but it did... they're really hard to see with the naked eye... but if you start seeing white dots on your fan leaves, flip it over and see lil black dots movin... boom! There are many ways they can get in, on your clothing, hands, equipment you brought inside, foriegn objects introduced into your grow space, pets, a number of way they can intrude! Hense the reason I stress from experiance and what was stressed to my by my veterian mentors... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Before and after every grow, clean everything with a bleach solution. The plants... if you use a neem oil or the method I use, the mites and other bugs hate that shit and it will act as a deteriant... plus makes the leaves all shinny! Not saying it will happen to you... but two things I live by is what ever can go wrong, WILL go wrong... So prepare for the worst, and hope for the best!

If you ever do get those little FUKKERS... drop me a line and I can tell ya how to clear those bastards out in a little as a week for GOOD!

im going withe the easy cool8 im using a seperate fan for cooling my light (250cfm) doesnt even blow into my cab, and then a fan for intake (250cfm) and then one for exhaust(250cfm) and a carbon filter, so thats 500cfm air exchange i want to the air intake come from outside and later if i have to get a a/c unit and put the temp sensor inside just get a little one and make something that makes it blow inside. i read some where that you have to have a good air exchange to make your plants grow well.

IMO if you not gonna be using CO2 at night with the fans off... good vented air exchange would most definitly be your top priority for sure man! Sounds like you've got plenty of ventalilation. So you should be set to rock!

Choosen a strain to start with yet?

G13 haze! im from the state it saposidly came from i mean the G13, i always heard silly stories about it when i was younger so i decided, why not go with it. when i do stuff i just do a bunch of reading and go with what feels right im rarley unsucessful and anything i set my mind to, for some reason g13 haze just feels right! if that makes any sense?

Sounds good man! Haven't tried it yet myself... but I am currently growing about 10 G13 Power Skunks! Good Shit!

If thats the strain you want... DO IT! No reason to change your mind... Try it out... never know untill you do!
